Another day, another leftist fauxtrage...
If you're going to attend an opponent's rally with the intent to heckle and disrupt it, you're really going to need to bring thicker skin...
Well then...I'm sure you'd have no problem with him saying that to your wife, your daughter, your mother....eh?
Wow guys, really?
Christy tried and failed to insult a protester. Nothing more. It's not like we don't sit here and do the same damn thing to each other every day. We often say we wish the political correctness could be removed. Well here it is, all be it the polar opposite. Personally I couldn't stand up everyday and take the brow beating all of our politicians do. My career would be cut short by a maniacal outburst on MSNBC.
It was a stupid comment to be sure but keep things on earth would ya.
You're free to interpret what he said in any way you see fit. "Sweetheart."
And I don't interpret it to be sexual. you do. Get your mind out of the gutter.
It's either a physical threat (which is highly unlikely) or a sexual reference (which is likely). Take your pick.
"something may go down tonight but it's not going to be jobs, sweetheart."
anyone who doesn't know what he's saying here is either:
A) really stupid and naive or
b) in pure partisan denial
Thanks for the offer, but I shall have to decline.
At least you are an adult and not a HS student, eh?
there's no high school student.
When a gaggle of protesters interrupted Romney's campaign rally speech at an Exeter high school, Romney declared politely that it was "really unfortunate" and urged his supporters to get loud and drown out his opponents' chants.
"I'm happy to have you guys express your views," Romney told them as he campaigned days before the New Hampshire primary. "Next time do it with more courtesy."
The protesters kept on shouting "Mitt kills jobs" and some were escorted out, but the shouts did not stop.
Then it was New Jersey Governor Christie's turn to address the overflow crowd jammed into the school gymnasium.
When a heckler yelled, "Christie kills jobs," Christie was ready with a response - New Jersey style.
"Really?" Christie replied. Something may go down tonight but it's not going to be jobs, sweetheart."
Wait.....let me look at your post again.
You are equating using the term "sweetie" with someone telling a HS student to "go down" as in oral sex?
You really just did that?
please.. show us the part where Christie told her to go down...
we'll wait....
and wait.....
Can you save my place? This could take a while - we'll need coffee.... I'll go get some.

On a scale of 1-10 my level of care about what he said is about a 2. I can understand him firing back but that was just a dumb place to go, ya know?
That said, I'm getting a real kick out of the rhetorical gymnastics routine a couple of posters are putting on here to defend it.
It's some funny shit.
At least you are an adult and not a HS student, eh?
Yea, I am. But he didn't make a sexual remark to a HS student... at least, not to anyone with a modicum of intellectual honesty.
Right, right. He wasn't making a sexual innuendo at all
And the whole crowd giggled because he was talking about "summin" "figuratively" going "down tonight, sweetheart!" But, of course, you can't imagine what that is which he's referring to which is why if you were in the crowd you'd stand there dumbfounded why everyone was laughing.

You may be right....but I took it as such because it was at a high school.
But let me ask anyone here....how would you feel if Christie said that to your wife, your mother, your daughter?

Perhaps it's because I hear the expression quite often. It's a fairly standard phrase with my brothers who quite often greet their colleagues with 'what's going down?' Or, maybe, I'm just slightly more of a grown up and find childish humor to be ..... well.... childish.
It wasn't a sexual remark, nor was it a threat.... but don't let reality bite you in the ass. I'm sure that children will believe it. Or, the left wing desperadoes who see Christie as a threat.

bring donuts too, please. (Don't tell Christie though)

A coffee ain't a coffee without a donut.
