Conservative pundit Candace Owens has denounced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a "fraud" following reports that a missile fired from his country killed two people in Poland.
In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Owens called the Ukrainian president a "dirtbag actor" and accused him of "trying to start World War 3" by attempting to pin blame for the missile strike on Russia. International concerns that the incident could force NATO to intervene in the Russia-Ukraine war emerged after initial reports suggested the missile that hit the Polish village of Przewodow on Tuesday might have come from the Russian military.
While the missile was identified as Russian-made, U.S., Polish and NATO officials have since dismissed the notion that the weapon was launched from Russia. They have instead suggested that the missile was likely fired by Ukrainian forces, albeit inadvertently. Owens claimed, without evidence, that the incident was an intentional attempt by Zelensky to launch a "false flag" attack that would force NATO into the war.

"Zelensky attempted to start World War 3 yesterday by intentionally misleading the public," Owens tweeted. "He is a dirtbag actor who has been falsely trumpeted as heroic throughout western propagandist networks. Ukrainian, Russian & American citizens are all suffering the consequences of lies."
"Ukraine is an intelligence operation full stop, hence the Operation Mockingbird level of support for Zelensky," she continued, referring to a supposed Cold War-era CIA program that is frequently referenced by QAnon conspiracy theorists. "Yesterday was an attempted false flag that fell a part only because of citizen journalists identifying the aircraft. This is why they want to control the internet."

Owens also insisted that she rejected a "false dichotomy presented by the Western press" and was neither "Pro-Putin [nor] Pro-Zelensky." However, she did refer to Zelensky as a "piece of s***" supported by "cowards in the media."
"At least Putin doesn't pretend to be a good person," Owens tweeted. "Zelensky does, while robbing the American people and attempting to start WW3."
Owens went on to compare Zelensky to Dr. Anthony Fauci and George Floyd, calling all three men "frauds."
"The same people that told you that George Floyd was a hero, then told you that Fauci was a hero, then told you that Zelensky was a hero," she tweeted. "Frauds. All of them."
Hours after unleashing her anti-Zelensky tweet storm, Owens shared a video of herself denouncing the Ukrainian president further for "not wearing a suit every day," while denying that she is a "pro-Putin puppet."

Zelensky has continued to deny that the missile was launched by Ukraine's military. While international officials have indicated that Ukraine was likely responsible for an inadvertent strike, NATO's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Wednesday that Russia was still responsible due to the war in Ukraine.
"This is not Ukraine's fault," said Stoltenberg. "Russia bears ultimate responsibility as it continues its illegal war against Ukraine."
