Callous Conservatism?

So, there's no evidence that anything has happened, moving the GOP to the right, let alone the hysterical "FAR RIGHT!!!"

And, really, all you have is what "we can expect"......extrapolations without basis.

Opionions rooted in fantacy: You must either be desperate or paranoid.

I'm betting desperate.

As the Democrats moved farther to the left after 1968, we saw Democrat candidates reflect that change. And we saw Democrat candidates lose.

The 2006 and 2008 elections were the catalyst for the Republicans to move farther to the right.

The basis for my extrapolations.

What a weird basis: 40 years ago, in a different party, in a different direction.

Yet, we are not seeing "Republicans move further to the right."

Unless you're hallucinating.
The dynamics are similar. Ideologues moving a party to an extreme (relatively speaking) resulting in a party without a salable message.

And if you don't believe the Tea Baggers are a faction within the Republican party and their activism will be ignored by that party, I have to ask why.

Because you cannot prove they are.

So...we can forget about the Tea Baggers as a political movement? The Tea Baggers are not going to be activists in the GOP and endorse practically exclusively Republican candidates? The Tea Baggers aren't going to be power brokers of a kind in the Republican party? All this has been an illusion?

Are you suggesting the Republican Party has not evolved even thought they have lost two straight elections? Clearly they have not become progressive, there is no evidence for such a conclusion. One might then conclude the GOP has regressed, since as individuals and as a party there have been no new ideas put forth by Repubicans in recent memory.

What once was a conservative movement has devolved into a reactionary one; the GOP is not labile and relies on unprovable platitudes to traduce those whose opinions differ than their own.

Fascism has many faces, but one commonality. It is and has been a movement from the right. A movement characterized by extreme nationalism, militarism and the use of blame to produce hate and fear of "evil doers" - gays & lesbians, abotionists, civil libertarians, college professors and labor unions; Jews or Muslims, Communists, Socialists, Marxists; unwed mothers, hippies, etc. etc.

Want evidence the GOP has moved to the right? Open you eyes and your mind, it's all around us. And while you so easily demand evidence, please provide the evidence proving I'm wrong. Post messages by the fringers on this board which demonstrate tolerance and I'll post dozens showing intolerance. Post messages offering different strategies for solving the myriad of problems facing this nation, and I'll post dozens of messages posting reactionary platitudes. Being glib and smug may amuse you, but they provide nothing of value to a serious debate.

The last election in many ways had the same volatility as the 1976 election. Bush blow back was going to defeat any ANY Republican candidate. So, the GOP decided to pull another 1996. Then, they ran Bob Dole. A genial, likable man of advanced years.

The equivalent of a punt in politics.

The GOP had no say which candidate would run for POTUS, the primaries decided that.
Follow the money. fund raising is the key to winning. The most electable candidates don't always enjoy the greatest fund raising. The national committee can steer a lot of whales to a campaign.

The why even engage in a primary election? Just see which candidate has the most money.

Damn you're stupid!
