Calif.. always ahead of the curve...

let see.... what my million+ property in SF gets me.... and what a million+ would buy me in TX..... i tell ya, it looks pretty darn good.

I could get 5X the house, a pool on at least an acre of property.....in a good area. Or no property in a gated community.

And that doesnt even go into the cost of living.

San Francisco sucks too.

liberal hell....i agree...it sure does suck!

I like Seattle, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Boston, Santa Fe, Alba querky, Boulder, and any college town....

This shit cracks me up.

Who the fuck wants to live in Texas?

Only if you're looking around Austin. If you went to the Dallas Fort Worth area you could get a LOT more. Acres of land. On a lake...with a boat dock and boat house.

heh...i know. I have a friend in real estate in the DFW/plano/frisco area. She would show me around "see what you could get here for your money"

i wanted to strangle her sometimes!

But you'd still be in Texas...

Austin's beautiful. And now they have the Circuit of the Americas there for Formula One racing. We've allready got our tickets for that! Try having fun in California, can't be done any more. Well I take that back, if you like doing things outdoors it's very difficult, if you want to smoke dope and party...that you can do pretty good.

Those folks don't accomplish too much though.

California is a prime example of what happens when you wed the general public's desire for spending with giving the Republicans the power to control tax policy, so that none of the spending is ever paid for.

Republicans?

California?

ROFL

Fucking leftists, destroy the state then blame the Republicans, who haven't been able to influence ANYTHING since the Wilson years.

California is a state run by the public employee unions, for the public employee unions. Greece is fiscally sound compared to the Brown disaster.

I have fun in CA every day. We have skiing and surfing all within a days drive.

We have some of the most stunningly beautiful state and national parks on the planet and the weather to go with them.

I've been to all but a couple of the upper middle states, lived in a half dozen states and there's no better place in my 5th generation California opinion than my home state.

Proposition 13 gives them a veto over tax policy.

Bullshit.

Prop 13 stops massive increases in PROPERTY tax, and only that.

California has the second highest sales tax in the nation, and the highest state income tax in the nation. We have a car tax that peels 3% of each vehicles value out of residents every year. The over all tax burden on Californians is higher than any other state in the union, with the lowest level of personal liberty. This is what happens when democrats have complete control for 40 straight years.

Republicans absolutely control the purse strings in California. They have the power to veto any tax increase.

You're an utter fucking liar.

Republicans have NO SAY about ANYTHING in California. All branches of government are completely dominated by the democrats and have been for decades. The last time either house of the California legislature had a Republican majority was in 1984. The democrats have enjoyed a 2/3rds majority in the Assembly for nearly a decade, meaning that with democrats Ahhhnold and Jerry Brown, the dems run roughshod with absolutely no opposition.

Standard Disclaimer: You're going to say that the checks in the mail, and Schwarzenegger was a Republican - we all know about big lies....

I liked in California from 1977-1980. Absolutely LOVED it. I was in San Diego (La Mesa) - never wanted to leave, but was transferred to East Coast and remained here.

I have fond memories of that place -

But in today's political atmosphere - I am afraid it's not like the California of the 70s that I knew.
La Mesa still is, I'll bet. As is Santee and El Cajon.

Always the leader in Trends.. here is another area..

A finer-grained regional analysis reveals that the main current of migration out of California in the past decade has flowed eastward across the Colorado River, reversing the storied passages of the Dust Bowl era.
Southern California had about 55 percent of the state’s population in 2000 but accounted for about 65 percent of the net out-migration in the decade that followed.
More than 70 percent of the state’s net migration to Texas came from California’s south.

A third factor is state and local governments’ constant fiscal instability, which sends at least two discouraging messages to businesses and individuals.
One is that they cannot count on state and local governments to provide essential services—much less, tax breaks or other incentives.
Second, chronically out-of-balance budgets can be seen as tax hikes waiting to happen.

States with low unemployment rates, such as Texas, are drawing people from California, whose rate is above the national average.
Taxation also appears to be a factor, especially as it contributes to the business climate and, in turn, jobs.

Most of the destination states favored by Californians have lower taxes. States that have gained the most at California’s expense are rated as having better business climates.
The data suggest that many cost drivers—taxes, regulations, the high price of housing and commercial real estate, costly electricity, union power, and high labor costs—are prompting businesses to locate outside California, thus helping to drive the exodus.

WOW... taxes too high? Move!

They are certainly ahead of the Curve when it comes to unsustainable Socialist style Government.

Do you just make shit up asshole? Republicans have not controlled Spending or Policy Decisions in Cai for almost 3 decades, even when they had a Rino Republican Governor, he had to pass anything he wanted through a Democrat Controlled Legislature.

You have earned a Neg Rep for your stupidity, or Dishonesty, which ever it is.

Unfortunately, a lot of those Fornicalians bring their idiotic lolberal politics with them, as they try to make their new state more like the socialistic hell hole thy just escaped.

Colorado and New Mexico are prime examples.

True... I started this thread topic hoping some of those 7% Undecideds that may be on this board MIGHT make the very simple link that Calif. is a microcosm of the USA i.e. continued higher taxes, MORE regulations, ANTI-Capitalist attitudes is the Obama agenda!
The only problem is as it was said THE USA was the last bastion for where people could go that want freedom.. well if Obama gets re-elected that may not be true!

Don't kid yourself, it's not gonna be true no matter who gets elected.

The text of the California constitution is a delusion? You should probably inform the governor.

No you stupid fuck, your Interpretation of it is. And your unbelievable attempt to Blame California's Problems on Republicans.

Pathetic it, I only wish I could neg you more.

From wiki:

"The history of the Democratic Party of California is complex and long. The State has traded hands every few cycles since its admission into the union in 1850. At that time, the state was firmly in the hands of the Democratic Party. However, within five years, issues such as slavery splintered the party and the Know-Nothing Party took control.

Until the early 1880s after the republican party abolished slavery, the Republicans held the state through the power and influence of railroad men. The Democratic Party responded by taking an anti-corporate, anti freedom of attainment position. "

La Mesa still is, I'll bet. As is Santee and El Cajon.

El Cajon is a hell hole, run by the Mexican drug cartels. It never was much, low rent desert, but now it's just a staging area for incoming illegals and drugs.

Exactly my point....hasn't changed since the 70s.

Democrat control ruined California. Republicans freed the slaves here.

California State Legislature - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The California State Legislature currently has a Democratic majority, with the Senate consisting of 25 Democrats and 15 Republicans and the Assembly consisting of 52 Democrats and 28 Republicans. Except for the period from 1995 to 1996, the Assembly has been in Democratic hands since the 1970 election (even while the governor's office has gone back and forth between Republicans and Democrats). The Senate has been in Democratic hands continuously since 1970."
