Bernie Sanders: We Will Raise Taxes On Anyone Making Over $29,000 To Fund Government Health Care

Government is there for more than to protect liberty and rights. It's to keep peace between the people as well. Otherwise I would be able to light that gas station on fire and nobody from the government could do anything to me because it has nothing to do with rights or liberty. I got ripped off, so my way to get back is to destroy the place.

Again, the same excuses. It seems you agree with liberals more than you'd like to admit. They also want government running pretty much everything.

You call that government running everything?
Based on your other posts, yes. You seem to have no principled limits to what you want government in control of - other than your own personal preferences. ie you see government in fundamentally the same terms as liberals, as a tool to force your will on society. Maybe I shouldn't be busting on you for it, you're no worse than them. But Republicans make a lot of noise (at least when they're not in power) about limited government. The hypocrisy gets ugly.

Wait a minute: you mean to say that when I buy a product that may destroy property of mine, expecting government to make sure that doesn't happen is me forcing somebody to do something?

Are you actually using a Democrat's talking point list or something?

Of course government should go after businesses that commit fraud, or sell products that harm people. What's that go to do with mandating pricing policies? Nothing.

It did drift off. But the debate started with Trump mandating that prices be transparent in healthcare. I don't see anything wrong or big government about that. People should have the ability to see what procedures are going to cost them before committing to them, or see where they wish to get their healthcare serviced at. In that way, you can see who is ripping you off and who is not. You can't do that if they are not going to give you the price for services.

Farm subsidies are a never ending social program? I don't recall Trump making claim that this funding was permanent. What he is doing is helping farmers through this process. Hardly what I would consider a social program.

I didn't ask you what Trump claimed. I asked you about what you claimed. And yes, farm subsidies seem to be never ending.

Why is it OK to not fund some programs but not others?

No, it's temporary until our trade issues are settled. Our economy is booming, and China has a lot of economic problems right now. It's just a matter of when they'll agree to Trump's terms.

If you don't have farm subsides, then don't get pissed when a head of lettuce costs ten bucks, or oranges are eight bucks a pound. Farm subsidies not only help farmers, but they help everybody from coast to coast.

If our economy was booming the Fed wouldn't be doing what it is doing. But I will once again note your support of Socialist government policies. In Capitalism, if oranges are eight dollars a pound, they are eight dollars a pound. No?

Yes, and you'd be the first to complain about it too.

So what? So what if complained? If you support something, are you not suppose to support it? If you support something, does it matter if others complain? No, it's that you and the majority of others who claim to support capitalism, do not actually support that.

So you're all for government just quit subsidizing farms?

That's not what's at issue. Trump wants to force health care providers to publicize their pricing policies. Is this new expectation going to apply to every business? Do you think you have a right to know what prices other people negotiate? Why? Why is that any of your business??

Uh...... because I'm paying for it?

What other business doesn't disclose their prices? I can't think of one. If I get my car worked on, I get an estimate first. If I have a plumbing problem that's beyond my pay grade, I can even get an estimate over the phone. It's already law that gasoline stations have to post their price in public and on the pumps. When I go to Home Depot, the prices of the items on everything they sell are all posted, or I can even get prices off the internet before I go to the store.

How does that solve our problem with people not being able to afford medical care?

Nationalized healthcare is awesome!!!

Cheaper and no long waits.

At least people could afford to be in line.

With their absurd taxes, they should get to wait in line, eh?

It beats not being able to be in line. Lots of good your money does you once you are dead.

No, I don't long for a government run healthcare system.

But that is what you are going to get by refusing to address the issue of thousands not being able to afford access to health care.

I heard Obamacare's much higher deductibles really improved access.

I think it is well worth it to make sure people don't freaking die from cancer and other illnesses.

Right now getting sick in this country can destroy your life and your entire families.

It didn't and you have never nor will you ever see me support it. Obama failed at nearly everything he did. My position is NOT based upon politics but people.

For those who do not want government run health care you need to come up with something else to address the issue or indeed you are going to get government run health care.

Thousands...…..if only we had government programs that spent hundreds of billions, over a trillion, a year.
