Bernie Sanders: Fidel Castro has done positive things

In the Univision debate Sanders said that "When pressed by Salinas, he said that "it would be wrong not to state" that the Castros have done good things with medicine and education. And that Cuba has undergone a positive revolution "in terms of values".

Bernie Sanders declines to retract positive statements on Fidel Castro

Here's what the guy who is in your Avatar said about the Cuban Revolution...

"I believe that there is no country in the world including any and all the countries under colonial domination, where economic colonization, humiliation and exploitation were worse than in Cuba, in part owing to my country's policies during the Batista regime. I approved the proclamation which Fidel Castro made in the Sierra Maestra, when he justifiably called for justice and especially yearned to rid Cuba of corruption. I will even go further: to some extent it is as though Batista was the incarnation of a number of sins on the part of the United States. Now we shall have to pay for those sins. In the matter of the Batista regime, I am in agreement with the first Cuban revolutionaries. That is perfectly clear.
"—U.S. President John F. Kennedy, interview with Jean Daniel, 24 October 1963[27]

yes---Batista was a bastard------but Batista was Batista. If he decided to emulate
AL Capone----that fact is not an indictment against the USA I get my Cuban POV---from educated Cuban escapees who have ALSO praised many of the programs instituted by Castro------but escaped, nevertheless

He's right, the Castros have done "good things" with medicine and education in Cuba ; what he didn't say was they managed to pretty much destroy the rest of the Cuban Economy and nearly eliminate individual liberty for the Cuban Citizenry in the process.

Typical politician speak... cherry picking half truths.

Prove that Bernie Sanders wants to eliminate all private ownership and individual freedom.

why do you post such an idiotic demand. The fact that Bernie is CLEARLY a
socialist and far TOO socialist for the tastes of LOTS OF PEOPLE----in no way
suggests that he wants to completely abolish private property

Casrto destroyed the Cuban Economy? Just pretend the 55 year economic war we've been waging on Cuba had nothing to do with that...

It would be wrong not to state that. Cuba's healthcare successes are an indisputable fact.

Holy Jesus....

no pirates as far as I know------I also met some guy who FLEW Batista out of Cuba---
is that not interesting? It was long ago and the man had utter disdain for
Batista-----I knew nothing about the history of Cuba at that time

Obviously there are problems in any society where the bulk of economic power lies in the same few hands. But that doesn't change the fact that places like Cuba and Vietnam were worse under western imperialism, than they are today.
