Maybe 'SUSPENDED' and 'BANNED' would work?
A page for banned and temp banned posters, along with an explanation of why they were banned, would be useful, and on some other boards is one of the most entertaining features.

Why should the administrators have to explain to you who they banned and why? It's not our business. Obey the rules of USMB and
It would be nice if there was a way to determine whether a poster is banned only temporarily or permanently. The reason being is that sometimes I read threads that were started by a banned member that I would like to reply to, but if the poster is permanently banned, why bother? Perhaps when a member is permanently banned, the word "banned" under their screen name could be a different color? That would help. Thanks for listening. :)

Why would you respond to them if they are under a ban at all, Chris? If the Admin banned them - temporarily or permanently - they should respect the decision of Admin and not post at all. If they are going to disrespect the rules and those who took the time to create this board and maintain it - you should realize they have no respect for anyone including themselves.

Anyone who continues to sneak onto a board - under banned title - or under a new screen name is a very desperate / unstable individual and someone that should not be trusted. It is better to respect the wishes of Admin and have nothing to do with them.

I'm referring to threads or posts that the "banned" member created before he or she was banned. :)

Personally? I would ignore anything they wrote about entirely, Chris. Why encourage them? Listen, when a banned member sneaks back on the board under another name and hints to others who they are? They are inviting the members here to join them in their rebellion - it is an insult to the people who have worked to clean up this board and get it to where it is today (which is 10,000 times better than it was a few years ago). Out of respect for CK and others who run this board? I wouldn't.

You misunderstand. I am referring to posts or threads that the "banned" member created BEFORE being banned.

I haven't misunderstood you at all, Chris. Whatever they have written before being banned - should be ignored - if the Admin could delete it all - it would be that much better. Out of sight, out of mind.

I don't see why you would think that. This is only an internet forum. Just because a person gets banned from an internet forum doesn't mean that poster is a bad person. Let's keep things in perspective here please.

censorship is what that is called...when the member was posting they were a member in good standing...why go back and censor them...

still waiting on some of those 10 k examples of how the board has improved

Jeremiah, while I appreciate your zeal for this forum we enjoy, please try to keep it in check.

Regardless of the person being banned being an idiot, an ass, both, or neither, the content of his or her thread being responded to shouldn't automatically be banned or ignored. As contentious as some banned members were I'm certain they made a few worthwhile thread topics during their tenure.

no i am asking for examples of how its better now......i see much more racism and hate than 3 years ago....and i sure see more ads

The filth on this board 3 years ago was off the charts - married women leading the way even - it was disgusting - the avatars, the disgusting behavior, the blatant disrespect for other members, for moderators and admin, etc. As I said before, it is 10,000 times better than it ever was - in my opinion. I commend the Admin / mods for making this board a much better experience for everyone.

Hope I've explained what I meant for you as this is my last comment on the matter. Banned means banned. Let's respect USMB by respecting their decisions. Amen? Amen!

so you have a problem with avatars? simply another form of censorship is that not?
you think members respect other members now? i dont see much respect on this board at all.....sexual attacks on posters when one disagrees with them still goes on....no religious tolerance unless you are a solid christian
racial hate is still there and the flames are doused daily and this goes on daily....

And you are more than welcome to do so. I choose to address particular posts, regardless of the poster. I'm addressing the content of the post or thread. I don't care if the member was banned or not. Also, some people might happen to get on a moderators "bad side" and be goaded into being banned. Seen it happen plenty of times. Internet forum moderators can be douchebags sometimes.

USMB allows for a lot more freedom of speech than other forums.

One consequence is that some members fan more flames and hate than others.

It would be unwise to think only one side does it: all sides do to an extent.

We have aggressive, stupid, and hackish conservatives and liberals by the drove.

We also have zones, which to an extent help. Also, the CDZ and SDZ are valuable.

So long as there is freedom, there will always be the freedom to fight one another. But, there is also the freedom to forge connections and peace as well.

Can we trade a current poster for a banned member?
No. Those that were permabanned openly defied admin. If you do that then you should expect what you get.

Why is that? Do you honestly believe they are beyond reproach? Goodness! They are just a bunch of nobodies who volunteered to be moderators on a message board!

They don't HAVE to explain.

It is an entertainment board, it would be entertaining if they explained.

This has been suggested several times and shot down, perhaps because "made an ass of staff" is not a valid reason to ban people.

who said maudes? I said "admin" meaning- the owner/s of the board. Follow them around biting their ankles and expect to get a permanent vacay.

USER1: This guy was an illiterate left-wing f***up who couldn't resist calling people racists.

USER2: Having been conceived with bourbon by rednecks under a full moon, this special idiot could not help but rage against anything remotely resembling a metro-sexual thought.

USER3: Used HATER DUPES way too many times.
Crap! Had to check. Franco is not banned.

I suppose. I don't really know of any examples of that happening though.

maudes have enough work to do as it is w/ the likes of TheOwl32, DarkFury, ShootSpeeders, etc...

They don't need the added task of keeping a running tally of who did what & the results.

Why not just read the rules before posting :dunno:

lol@ the good christian full of forgiveness...shunning people on a fucking message board....cause admin banned them....they should throw open the doors and let banned members come back....why are certain people so threatening that they had to eat a permanent ban?
Many, because they had stood up to the powers that be and pointed out abuse of power.

I do. It happened during the rebellion against ownership. Nepotists 'tarded-out" and got their just desserts:banned:

All, ALL of them deserved what they got
