Indeed. There are quite a few perma-banned members who added far more amusing and interesting content to the board than the banal post whores who currently spam it.

Maybe 'SUSPENDED' and 'BANNED' would work?

A page for banned and temp banned posters, along with an explanation of why they were banned, would be useful, and on some other boards is one of the most entertaining features.

This has been suggested several times and shot down, perhaps because "made an ass of staff" is not a valid reason to ban people.

I would say many of the "staff" make asses of themselves as least as often as the members....Maybe more.

Gotta say....they did deserve to be banned. They were given almost as many chances as JR.

Yep. They were warned numerous times but their nepotism (sense of entitlement) got the best of them

I don't really care why a member was banned (although I'm sure there are some funny things that happen sometimes). I just want to know if a member is permanently or temporarily banned.

Yes they rebelled. They rebelled against unequal enforcement and randomly created new "rules". They were vocal about it. Some even expressed their concerns directly to the company who owns the forum.
The purge was like obama banning the majority in the House.

If that's true, it's small wonder they were banned, considering a messageboard is personal property and should not be infringed or attacked by partisans of either side. If fanatical Right or Left wingers tried to do that with a forum I owned, I would do the same, and not nearly as nicely.

This is a privately owned forum w/ rules that are not voted on (I thought that was obvious ). Don't like it, then move along. Openly defy it? Then expect the obvious.

Well, these kinds of forums tend to attract the most extreme people on both sides of the aisle. No one else wants to listen to them, so they come to these forums to spew their vomit.
