Are lap dances a human right?

Sorry but that money should not be available as cash.

Those cards should only be used for an exchange of goods; you know food or clothing for the kids not booze and strippers.

Agreed. Most food and clothing can be purchased with a credit card or debit card, and that's how this card should work.

There should be certain things that this card can be used for, and the sales person should be keenly aware of what it can be used for. And if they sell things that shouldn't be purchased with this card, and they are audited, they should be fined excessively.

LOL much ado about nothing as usual, sure keeps the right wing puppets dancing though. Consider if when the republican wackos bring up more fodder for the fools that the other side do something similar to what is quoted below.

"One way to get a politician to withdraw a bill requiring drug-testing for welfare applicants? Just tell him lawmakers also have to get tested, and see how fast he boomerangs. Rep. Jud McMillin, a Republican member of the Indiana General Assembly, took back his drug-testing bill after one of his helpful Democratic colleagues amended it ever so slightly."

"The state Senate this afternoon gave preliminary approval for legislation that would require pregnant women to undergo ultrasound imaging before an abortion, but not before rejecting a Democratic senator’s attempt to add what she described as 'a little gender equity' to the bill. Democrat Janet Howell of Fairfax County proposed requiring men to undergo a rectal exam and a cardiac stress test before getting prescriptions for erectile dysfunction drugs such as Viagra." Rust Belt Philosophy: Yes.

and what, exactly , doe that have to do with the OP???

I read the article. it doesn't say there's any problem. it indicates that people use ATM's at liquor stores a lot. That's true. Because there aren't necessarily banks in bad neighborhoods and the only ATM's are generally at convenience stores and liquor stores.

It's a dog whistle bill. The base will like it because it feeds into their whole welfare queen meme.

someone needs to tell them most people on welfare are white.

The race card?

As the recession continues onward, House Republicans are worried that those receiving welfare payments may be having a bit too good of a time.

The chamber will again vote Wednesday on a bill which would ensure that electronic withdrawals of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families dollars aren't allowed to be withdrawn from ATMs at strip clubs, casinos or liquor stores. TANF replaced national welfare programs after the welfare reforms of 1996.

House Set to Ban Welfare Payments at Strip Clubs - US News and World Report

Comments?

Predictions?

HELL TWO THE YEEAHH THEY ARE!!!!!

I demand the gubmit send a stripper to every poo' mans house every Friday night.

sorry, couldn't take that so seriously.

the amount of booze bought on welfare is far lower than people think. corner stores offer more than booze, they are basically a 7/11, a place to get what you need quickly and get going.

actually that's true.

the bullshit comes from the fact of percentages.

by percentages, more blacks then hispanics are on welfare.

Puhleez. There are ATMs everywhere.

Have you ever tried to get cash at a casino? There is no reason to go there except to get money to gamble.

And Jillian - the race card is getting old. It never occurred to me that only black people go to strip clubs or casinos. In fact, I believe it's mostly white men. Your racist prism needs some cleaning.

yes, the race card *is* getting old. the right should stop playing it

You can't pay your rent with a debit card.

No they pay their rent with section 8 vouchers.

Again that money does not need to be available as cash.

yes, dammit, poor people should live on the street where they belong, right?

leave it to a partisan hack like you to be the first to bring up race.

you calling someone else a partisan hack is a joke.

now run along.

I dont think you comprehended his post.

He didnt say people should live on the street.

He said vouchers should pay for housing, as opposed to cash via atm's.

i probably processed that because of his posts on other issues.

my bad.

ultimately, though, to get back to the original post. there's no evidence of need for the law. there's no evidence of a problem that needs a sweeping solution. it seems to me the sole purpose is continued villianization of poor people.

I want to know why people are able to get cash out of an ATM via welfare.....that's not cool to me.

Yeah, that's a good question. It should be some type of credit system that allows them to buy necessities.

it saves the states money.

Instead of mailing out stamps monthly, they mail you an ATM card once and then put money on it electrically.

also, in theory, it was supposed to prevent fraud. As people would sell the stamps for cash and then by things that were not allowed.

The "fraud" stopped, but then people bought whatever they wanted.

Hazah for gubmit effecientcy.

i am fairly socially liberal and believe in welfare.

that being said, i would scrap the current system and would run the revamped entity with a fascist iron fist.

all recepients would be drug tested, forced to have a job, and be forced not to live in squalor. if they fail, any of these, they lose their benefits
