Another reason to like Scott Brown

There is no lie. He's not going. He has time to go 2000 miles to a John McCain rally, but he can't go home to his own state for a teabagger rally.

Where's the lie?

I see, so the twisting begins.

Twisting? Are you daft? He's either going or he isn't. That's a yes or a no.

Anyone starting to notice a pattern here? Sarah Palin is starting to look like the GOP's most prominent toxic asset.

ho hum.

because dispensing morning after pills and performing d & cs is the primary purpose of a career in medicine, right?
It's part of the job of an ob/gyn.

ER physicians aren't OB/GYN
Neither are pharmacists but there are some who refuse to fill prescriptions for it.

However, getting back to Scott Brown and why we are all supposed to adore him now that he has snubbed Sarah Palin. You really have an uphill battle ahead of you if you think your latest golden boy is going to make Massachusetts proud.

Nontheless, Brown voted for it.

and he voted for the final version of the bill without his amendment in it.

so tell me again how he isn't pro-choice enough?
How anyone could support denying a rape victim the option of taking the morning after pill that is provided in emergency room rape kits is beyond me. Scott Brown is an idiot and he is not pro choice enough for me.

He's a RINO and an idiot. Apparently his teabagger fans only see the idiot part.

Scott Scozzafava, Tea Party standard bearer!! Very weird.

he already has. he's voting based on ideas not ideology.

your inability to see it is not my problem.

Coakley's campaign ad says Brown "favors letting hospitals deny emergency contraception to rape victims."

It's true that in 2005, when the MA state Legislature was considering a bill to require hospitals to provide emergency contraception to rape victims, Brown introduced an amendment that would have let doctors and nurses opt out based on "a sincerely held religious belief" and refer patients elsewhere. It was similar to "conscience" provisions in federal legislation that would avoid forcing Catholic hospitals to provide abortion or contraception against the teachings of the church. Here's the language:

Brown amendment, Apr. 2005
: "Nothing in this section shall impose any requirements upon any employee, physician or nurse of any facility to the extent that administering the contraception conflicts with a sincerely held religious belief. Said treating facility shall have in place a validated referral procedure policy for referring patients for administration of the emergency contraception."

The various Catholic nurses in Boston had no problem with that. :eusa_whistle:
Many people see nothing wrong with making it difficult for rape victims to get access to the morning after pill. Who cares if a rape victim must go to another hospital even though time may be running out for her.

This guy is pro choice, is for gay rights and refuses to associate himself with the tea baggers.

I like him. I said it when he was elected. :doubt:

They jumped all over me and squealed in denial when I accurately dubbed him a pro-choice John McCain.

The teabaggers were so desperate for a hero they climbed on the bandwagon of exactly the kind of guy they loathe.

It's heeee-larious!

some would agree

The individual emergency provider who has a sincere religious conscience over it works among other individual providers who will provide the procedure without delay. The facility itself would still be working under the law and nothing is compromised on either side, which is the ideal civil situation where everyone has a choice.

You just know when the Left start heaping praise on a Republican Representative it's for ALL the right reasons.

which left was that?

You, you socialist bitch.

Didn't take long for Elvis to attack a person and not their idea. Not too brave to do so from the safety of his/her keyboard, and given an attack is worthless in a debate of ideas and opinions, a rather childish thing to do.

lighten up, francis. it was a joke.

i guess it's never too early in the day to build up a good head of self righteous indignation over nothing.

True, if it was meant as humor - mea culpa. btw, there is lots of opportunity for indignation, given the amount of vile comments posted on this MB. And that too may be considered self righteous, but for the fact I am tolerant of the opinons of others, though I am not tolerant of stupidity.

One would hope so but there is no guarantee, especially not in Catholic hospitals. That is why the law said that the hospital could tell the rape victim she would have to go another hospital.

I like Brown....He is starting to show that he has some balls

The guarantee IS the law which medical providers have to abide by, namely choice.

Scott Brown proposed an amendment...to a bill..on emergency contraception.

The amendment containing that provision did not pass, but the bill passed.

Scott Brown voted FOR that bill which became law.

>

He's pro choice up to a point. He voted in support of a law allowing hospital emergency room personnel to refuse the morning after pill to rape victims if it was against their religious beliefs to give it to them.

>

The bill required that rape victims be provided with accurate information about emergency contraception and that they be offered it. Brown voted for the bill after unsuccessfully trying to carve out a religion exception. And there is nothing in the record that we are aware of to suggest that Brown ever supported denying any other type of care to victims of sexual assault.

So now a politician is being "praised" for not attending a meeting with the American people.

how bout that one.

yeah, he blew off my PTA meeting, too, the ungrateful bastard.

get a grip
Good One!

Leave to Dante to turn this into a hate a Republican thread.

Coming from a Far-Right Nut Lunatic Fringer like you who called another poster a "bitch?"

Not quite what the slant to the OP is attempting...

Scott Brown is very much with the Romney camp and is looking to support Romney in 2012 as he also attempts to navigate his own political re-election to the Senate. He is trying to remain loyal to Romney, as well as give continued appreciation for the Tea Party movement that played a crucial role in getting him elected as a Republican in long-liberal Kennedy-land.

The repeated attempts to corner the Tea Party movement into a limited and narrow group of participants is simple folly. It is proving a far greater and politically substantial group of loose affiliations, varied backgrounds, and far more diversity than the mainstream media and DC politicians care to admit. It is in fact, the most significant political movement since the Reagan Revolution of 30 years ago. The Tea Party will play a very significant role in deciding the extent of the Republican victories in 2010 - more uncertain is its continued viability heading into 2012 and beyond.

As for Scott Brown - his election remains as perhaps the single greatest bellwether of what is going to unfold in 2010. The Republican landslide is going to prove stunning, as the rising tide of voter discontent has yet to be fully realized by the pundits and pollsters...
And whatever will you do with yourself when your Crystal Balling proves itself to be UNTRUE come November Oh great and mighty Svengali?

are you implying you have a crystal ball, LeftSteph?

Yeah, it's so important for him to be in Washington casting votes,

like just siding AGAIN with the Democrats to move forward with the UE extension bill.

:lol::lol::lol:

The teabaggers in this Brown episode remind me of George in that Seinfeld episode where he gets fired but just shows up to work the next day anyway.

heeehawheeeeehaw!!!
