They are not stupid at all. Miss America is supposed to be an honorable position. She is represent excellence, human decency and compassion about improving the world around her. When she abuses her position to promote political candidates then she cheapens that legacy and the title of Miss America. Supporting the president could have been done tastefully and would actually be a sensible thing to do. Promoting his re-election is unbecoming of Miss America.

Expressing her opinion about birth control wasn't distasteful at all. It probably wasn't even a violation of the rules. Miss America should be a visionary that promotes a higher ideology for women. After all, she is all role model.

The real question is do they enforce this for ALL politics, or just ones that are unpopular in progressive circles.
