American crap movie!!

The last Pirates of the Caribbean movie was over $375 million, the one before that was $300 million...special effects aren't cheap. The Hobbitt trilogy cost $623 million for three films.

Superman vs Batman appears to be breaking box office records here and overseas.

But it might still be a loser, considering what it cost to make.

It's sinking fast in box office revenues but I think they did pass the break even point of 400 million.

But good lord, half a billion dollars for one movie? This has to pull back at some point.

The studios only need to 'pull back' if they aren't making money. Even then, we'll probably just see further increases in ticket prices first. :(

Spielberg and Lucas have been predicting for the last couple years that at some point four to five 250 million dollar movies will flop and that will change the industry. Spielberg said 'Lincoln' was a toss up from being released into theatres or on HBO. As was Red Tails. They also said ticket pricing would change with big budget movies like Superman costing $25 and movies like Lincoln maybe $7. We are talking about the two biggest names in Hollywood who are both billionaires.

They also said independents are finding it exceedingly tough to make lower budget movies and get them in theatres. Which will stifle creativity of up and coming movie makers.

The mega budget movie if it hits makes a ton of money, if it misses it loses a ton of money. Of the top 20 movies that have lost the most money, 11 of them have been made in the last 10 years.

You can't lose 100 million dollars and not have it change the way you do things.
