Secret City under Denver Airport
This could happen to you.

A Pennsylvania man’s entire life savings was lost when the DEA confiscated it at an airport, the man’s daughter said. Rebecca Brown was visiting her dad in Pittsburgh last year when he asked her to deposit $82,000 in cash – his life savings – in a joint bank account when she went home to Massachusetts. Brown brought the money to the airport, where a DEA agent seized the money, she said. Brown and her father have since filed a lawsuit.

Surely they'll get the money back right ?
The DEA and FBI can analyze it for DNA and fingerprints to see if it matches any criminals or connects to robberies, etc, but if this really was the guy's life savings, surely it will be clean. IRS may look into it. Why didn't he keep it in a savings account or retirement fund, and if it was under the table money, why didn't he report it ? So who knows ?

Some people don't trust banks and hide their money in coffee cans or bury it.
Rich people have secret vaults and hidden rooms with vast amounts of wealth hidden.

Even Hillary and the Obama's would tell you it's better to use Bitcoin

What is unconstitutional about the seizures is YOU the victim have to spend more money to file a suit and then YOU have to prove it was your money.
Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but what about those who take the money? What if there is no proof that it belongs to them as well? What happens to the money then?

God bless you always!!!

Now that the Fed has finished with its 'midterm adjustment', no other central bank in the developed world is going to have the courage to lift rates off the zero bound, particularly as the Continental economy careens toward a recession.

But as the rate compression continues to punish European banks, placing them at a significant disadvantage to their American peers (just look at what's going on with Deutsche Bank), some of the wealthy customers whom the banks have leaned on to try and make up for their lost revenues are deciding to pull their money and stash it under the mattress instead.

Because at least then they won't need to pay points on their deposits.

Civil forfeiture is a real problem in this country and this is not an isolated incident where a seemingly innocent person was targeted. Lots of it is going on at the local level as well from what I've read. As you pointed out, one is guilty until proven innocent under these rules and that's just not how I was raised. This gives govt way too much power to impact innocent lives.

Yeah, not really buying this story.

While forfeiture laws suck everyone knows carrying a bunch of undeclared cash through an airport is a recipe for disaster.
Whats wrong with having the money wired to the new bank?
And I dont know about you but I damn sure wouldnt carry that much cash.

Well you'd better because they started this unconstitutional bullshit years ago as part of the phoney drug war and it's yet another example of SCOTUS having its head jammed far up its ass.

Just as a reminder, phohabition has never worked and it never will, it only promotes crime and makes things worse. The only effective way to kill a black market is to flood it and remove the profit incentive..

Not saying that civil forfeiture is not a problem, this story just seems off.
Just do a wire transfer -

I think that it's foolish as well but that doesn't justify the govt seizing it.
Government does a lot of bullshit that is strictly unconstitutional and morally wrong yet they get away with it because they are all in cahoots, including SCOTUS. Now you know what the deep state is all about.
We're beginning to scratch the surface.

Go to 18:50 and you'll see the matrix illustrated basically
