A Disturbing Look at the 2020 Presidential Campaign

Not true. You must have failed your government classes.

If congress does not need the signature of the president on spending bills, why the fuck do they keep shutting down the government over bills the POTUS will not sign?

I would suggest you actually read your Consitution lest you be proven a moron yet again.

I have, clearly though you have not.

Really? What happens when Congress passes a law and the President does nothing? You have no clue, do you?

Ahhh....the old pocket veto...something everyone talks about but has never actually seen...the last time it was used successfully was under Bush I.

If the president has not signed the bill after 10 days, it becomes law without his signature. However, if Congress adjourns during the 10-day period, the bill does not become law

I think the disagreement may be on the definition of "Congress".
One of you means both the House and Senate pass a law, the other may be interpreting "Congress" as just the House passes something?!

Worship???

How quickly they try to hide that they ran Hussein in '08 as god, Jesus, and the messiah.

Who did that? The reality- Obama had to fight to the end of the primary campaign to win, and probably only won because Bush ran the economy into a ditch.

Newsweek editor Evan Thomas said President Obama is "sort of God" in a way that's "standing above the country." Transcript below.

"CHRIS MATTHEWS (HOST):Evan Thomas is editor at large for Newsweek magazine. Evan, you remember 1984. It wasn't 100 years ago. Reagan and World War II and the sense of us as the good guys in the world, how are we doing?
EVAN THOMAS: Well, we were the good guys in 1984, it felt that way. It hasn't felt that way in recent years. So Obama's had, really, a different task We're seen too often as the bad guys. And he, he has a very different job from ... Reagan was all about America, and you talked about it. Obama is - we are above that now. We're not just parochial, we're not just chauvinistic, we're not just provincial. We stand for something, I mean in a way Obama's standing above the country, above above the world, he's sort of God."

How ya' like dem apple, boooyyyyyyeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

Disturbing if you're a Democrat, that is.

I've noticed something: The 2020 Presidential election started out with a total of 29 hopefuls running on the Democrat platform - Biden, Sanders, Warren, Bloomberg, Gabbard, Klobuchar, Buttigieg, Steyer, Patrick, Bennet, Yang, Delaney, Booker, Williamson, Castro, Harris, Bullock, Sestak, Messam, O'Rourke, Ryan, de Blasio, Gillibrand, Moulton, Inslee, Hickenlooper, Gravel, Swallwell, and Ojeda.

I won't include the Libertarian and Green Party candidates like Hornberger, Jorgensen, Kokesh, Vermin Supreme, Whitney, Ruff, Hawkins, Hunter, and Rolde, because, seriously?

Meanwhile on the GOP side, one candidate for the most part, stands alone. That's President Donald J. Trump. There were four other candidates running on the Republican ticket but of those four, two are barely hanging on (Weld and De La Fuente), and the other two have since dropped out (Walsh and Sanford.)

2020 United States presidential election - Wikipedia

That would mean that during this election cycle, 29 of the best Democrats in the country jumped into the fray, while only 5 Republicans entered the race. That's almost six times as many Democrats.

So now for the "disturbing" part: If President Trump is such a horrendous President, why has there not been a large number of Republicans challenging him?

If you remember back in 2016, the Republicans ran a total of 17 candidates, while the Democrats ran only 6. This says only one thing to me: The Republican Party seems to have coalesced in unity behind one candidate, Donald J.Trump. Aside from the small "Never-Trump" movement, the GOP is unified behind one purpose: The re-election of Donald J. Trump.

Meanwhile the Democrat Party has gone through a confusing mishmash of candidates, scrambling to come up with that one person whom they think can beat him.

How can anyone not see what's coming down the pipe?

What's really sad is look at who ended up at the top in the end - A socialist and a senile old man. Both old white guys. This - from the party of diversity.

Pretty pathetic that they couldn't come up with one fresh face that energized the base had new ideas and an actual platform that wasn't - give away "free" shit. More than pathetic, it is downright damning of their platform and it is truly emblematic of socialism - Mediocrity (Less than mediocrity in this case).

It is not called a "pocket veto" unless it allows the law to expire because Congress has ended their term. Sometimes, when faced with an inevitable override of a threatened veto, the President will allow the bill to become law after 10 days without his/her signature as an indication that the law does not meet with their approval, but if vetoed, would eventually be overridden. It cuts down the process by eliminating the need for the veto and override by Congress to just not sign the bill.

How many of the spending bills has Trump done this with?

So when your ignorance is exposed on a topic, you deflect to something completely unrelated. You are pathetic.

The topic was Trump's spending and amount added to the national debt...do try and keep up for once.

A presidential candidate running against a "popular" incumbent president is more like a virgin sacrifice to the political gods than a political contest.
The smart move is to consider 2020 as practice for 2024.

The betting odds are still about 2:1 in Trump's favor.
Donald Trump (R) -140 -163
Joe Biden (D) +175 +162

That was before last night and since you didn't link your contention, I believe it probably includes Sanders.

Comparing betting odds between Democrats who still have to get through the primary to the president who really doesn't isn't really helpful. Pretty much comparing apples to one fat orange.

That being said most likely the odds will be partial to Trump in a 50/50 world since he is the incumbent.

Read the post I had replied to when you jumped into the discussion. Discussions on this forum rarely match the title..even a moron like you should have figured that out by now, considering our discussion has nothing to do with the title of the thread.

Yet you support Crazy Bernie or Quid Pro Joe whose budget will dwarf anything Trump ever submits. Great job, dumbass! I would suggest keeping that cock holster shut until you figure out what the hell you believe.
