On April 12th, 1945, at circa 1 PM, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (D) died. And the nation mourned. He was our longest-serving president.

Today, April 12th, 2015, Hillary Rodham Clinton (D) is announcing her candidacy for the 2016 presidential election.

Coincidence? Planning?

Discuss.
Simply another opportunity to mourn.

To mourn for FDR, one of our very greatest and most revered Presidents?

I dunno... 70 years past the death date means that most who knew him or of him are long gone.

What do you think?
Lest you be awarded 5 katyushas...you asked a question...coincidence or planning. My answer was neither...Hillary's announcement is simply another opportunity to mourn.

I recall being in the yard with my brothers...preparing to head for the baseball field, when my grandmother came to the door with the news...we had a great game that day.

Ok, I'm understanding you now. It was not an accusation on my part. We disagree on a lot of things, but generally you have been respectful of other people and I respect that as well.

I don't need the Katyushas, not really my style. I buy American!

The discussion is, äääh, interesting.
What did you expect? Many are in church or on the beach or little league or whatever.
But NYC is hanging tough fiercely fighting for the "who can make himself the stupidest trophy"

Hmmmmmm?

Why the reference to NYC?
It's not New York City. It is NYcarbineer

Ahhhhhhhh, well I will leave you two to bang each other up if that's what you need.....

I am OK. He just cannot believe that SSA Funds are spent and the trust fund is empty or near empty. Yeah, we exchange kind word too but it makes it more interesting.

Aha! Shifting focus! Slick! Very slick!

LOL.

To be honest, about one month ago, I pegged this day. I pegged it because my mother was born on April 14th and an aunt was born on the 12th - they have both died in the last 3 years. I thought to write a nice memorial for a local paper in Ohio about both of these women. And I remembered back in my head somewhere that the 12th of April had historical significance, but couldn't quite put my finger on it. So, I googled the date and FDR's death came up immediately and at the moment I thought that HRC could very well announce today. And when the announcement came out that she was announcing at the weekend, I considered Friday evening to Saturday evening to be very unlikely, being the Jewish Shabbat, so either Saturday evening or Sunday. And today it will be.

:D

The greatest legacy of FDR is the 22nd Amendment prohibiting insane mental cripple megalomaniacs like him run for the Presidency more than twice.

Only, the momentum for the 22nd amendment came AFTER his time, was pushed through a Republican Congress and Dwight D. Eisenhower, a Republican, regretted this deeply, for he himself wanted a third term.

So, now you are allowed to your opinion, just as I am allowed to tell you to go fuck off to the end of time for calling one of our greatest presidents an "insane mental cripple megalomaniac"(s).

He inspired the 22nd Amendment because the country NEVER wanted to see another egotistical and power hungry emperor-wannabe like FDR, ever again.

BTW he was also a nicotine addict. And a communist sympathizer by being the best and most admiring fan of the second greatest mass murderer in history, lovingly referred to as "Uncle Joe", Stalin.

FDR began the liberal decline of this great country. The first liberal socialist president. We should learn from the damage he did, but we won't.

too bad that the 22nd doesn't also apply to congress.

If you are going to troll like a fool, at least do it right.

Would you have preferred Yuri Gagarin's space voyage ... Or possibly the 1934 Senate vote that attempted to eliminate tax dodging?
Perhaps you would prefer to read Sir Edmond Hillary's journal excerpt form April 12th, 1953?
