I have been reading about a pro trump backlash over the "fake impeachment" hearings but I cant see evidence of that. But I cant see the Gop vote collapsing completely either.

Republicans won all the races in Kentucky except for Governor and the Governor was 17 points behind before Trump came in.....he lost by a few thousand, which the democrats likely stole.....

Virginia has turned blue because it is next to D.C....the cancer is spreading.....

The odds are really irrelevant at this stage.None of the Dems is sure of a run so that would depress their chances. I dont think anyone is opposing Trump from his own side but I may be wrong.

Look at the graph below and see when the heroin and fentanyl death rates spiked, it wasn't under a GOP president, it was under Obama. I don't have the 2018 and 2019 numbers yet, but I'm sure that Trump's war on illegal drugs is cutting those death rates. Any more questions? Do yesterdays results have give any indications for the next elections or is it just local stuff ?

I have been reading about a pro trump backlash over the "fake impeachment" hearings but I cant see evidence of that. But I cant see the Gop vote collapsing completely either.

The only real ominous sign I saw yesterday that the Republicans should have some concern over was in Pennsylvania. Some of the suburban counties outside Philadelphia went Democratic for the first time in their local elections. Pennsylvania was a state Trump barely won in 2016, so he can't afford to bleed support.

There were three states that had interesting results that may shed some light on 2020,

Kentucky: Trump is going to win Kentucky and I don't see anything in the recent election that is going to change that. What I did see is Trump flying down to try and save an unpopular politician and he failed. Trump's coattails are short. The Leader of the Senate who happens to be about as popular as the Republican governor who lost is up for reelection and if the Democrats have a decent candidate and Trumps can't help then there is the possibility that the Dems could take the seat. Uphill battle it would be but probably at least drain some money from the Republicans.

Virginia: More or less a confirmation that Virginia is moving further left and is now only a whisper of a battleground state. The Democrats just took over both houses of the state legislature and already had all state wide offices including the U.S. senators. The Republicans have about as much representation in Virginia as they do in California.

Pennsylvania: Two counties in Pennsylvania that make up a portion of the Philadelphia suburbs just went from red to blue. These have been strong and I mean STRONG Republican territories. Pennsylvania is one of three states that barley went for Trump and tipped the whole election to him.

What's important here is that Trump is either outright losing or lost ground in many of the suburbs that made up the wins in these three states. Trump can't win if he loses like this across the country. Not saying that will happen just that it's a very good sign.
