11-year-old girl tasered at school

IF the girl has a mind of a five year old, which I didn't read you mentioned it, then she's retarded.........................did she do a bad thing........HELL YES SHE DID................but if you are right and she's actually retarded then "the teacher" should be tased!!!!!!!!

I don't need a definition of your "sarcasm", maybe you shouldn't have put it in context with your statement though.................

I read it as sarcasm. Seriously, who would advocate arming an 11 year old at school?

I also marched my ass right into the school and collected my daughter and basically told the principal to screw off because some other girl hit her and she hit her back so they both got suspended, and this politically-correct, perfect world liberal proceeded attempting to lecture me and i told her straight up:

If a kid takes a swing at my kid, she has MY persmission to clock the other kid and if she (the principle) didn't like it, tough shit, call the school board.

I told my kids exactly the same thing. Walk away if you can, but if the trouble follows you then eventually you may have to say enough is enough.

Let's see here.

You got a frickin' 11 YEAR OLD CHILD who pushes a classmate.
(kids push each other all the time - kids do stupid things all the time - kids are not murderers)

You got a frickin' RETARDED 11 YEAR OLD CHILD on top of everything else.
(not to mention retarded school employees)

You got teachers who can't handle an 11 YEAR OLD CHILD.
(how did the child get all the way from being outside by the bus stop to inside throwing furniture?)

You got a security guard who can't handle an 11 YEAR OLD CHILD.
(Or was this one of those little old lady "security guards"? If so, wasn't there a man or at least a younger, physically fit woman or two on the premises who could remove the child to a place where she could cool down? Or was this idiot security guard just itching to pull the trigger on his brand new taser?)

You got an 11 YEAR OLD CHILD who was so ANGRY she went BALLISTIC.
(This does NOT sound like a normal 11 YEAR OLD CHILD. I'd say they were dealing with some deep-seated problems here, which are not the 11 YEAR OLD CHILD'S fault. The primary approach should have been to isolate and calm the child first - not escalate a confrontation. Then later find out why the 11 YEAR OLD CHILD went beserk. Unless the child was provoked beyond her ability to deal, that kind of behavior is not normal and anybody, but especially educators, should recognize that)

In any case nobody at this school - teachers/principle/guard - seems to know how to handle an 11 YEAR OLD CHILD.

So they resort to a TASER.

UNFRICKIN BELIEVABLE!!!!

How much harm will TASERING cause an 11 YEAR OLD CHILD?
(Not only physically, but mentally and emotionally?)

This school should be under investigation.

There were so many other approaches they could have used instead. First get an ADULT or two to physically place her in a room and allow her to finish her tantrum and cool off. Would that have been so hard?

How about calling the parents? Since when did parents give schools permission to let them TASER our CHILDREN?!!!!

To me the use of TASERS is a definite sign that our society is breaking down. Too many people are getting unruly for various reasons. Cattle prods are what are used to keep cattle in line. TASERS which are nothing more than cattle prods are being used to keep people in line. People today are being treated like nothing more than cattle.

To use a cattle prod….a TASER…. on an 11 YEAR OLD CHILD is beyond my comprehension….

What the hell is happening to society?

Are you a teacher? If not, you have no clue. How do you control an 11-year-old like that. You can say anything you want, and if that 11-year-old tells you to shove your words back up your own ass, then what do you do? Tell them to go to the office? Well guess what, they won't go because you told them to. The government has sent teachers into schools with their hands tied behind their backs.

I'm not sure about the time lapse between when the 11-year-old girl pushed the other student and when she was tased. Perhaps they should have secluded her and let her cool off (but whose to say the parents wouldn't sue the school for locking their child in a room?)

The fact is, children (like this 11-year-old) don't listen to a damn thing that teachers have to say, and when the teacher tries to "discipline" them by verbally correcting their behavior, the kid responds violently, and the teacher can do nothing. Did you know that if a student is making a violent move towards a teacher, the teacher can restrain them, but if they restrain them in an "unorthodoxed manner", they'll get fired, sued, or be in alot of trouble as well.

You can rant all you want about teachers not being able to control students, and your right, they can't because the government says they can't. The fact is, some parents spoil the crap out of their kids and let them do anything they want, then when the kids get into school and the teacher tries to correct their behavior, the kid blows up and freaks out. Make sure you do some research on our education system before you make absurd statements like that.

No offense taken. Peopel jump to a lot of erroneous conclusions on message boards.

If it'll make you feel any better, I used to be a long-haired, bellbottom wearing, dope smoking liberal journalist that spent 4 years working on the school paper for a genuine 60's hippy and was a card-carrying Democrat.

So, IMO, it is YOUR view that is skewed. When liberals left common sense and logic behind, so too did THEY get left behind.

So you're more of a classical liberal?

If they avoided locking her in a room so as to not get sued for it, they pretty much fucked themselves by instead tasering her, don't you think?

Ha! Fashion statements aren't political philosophies. You probably have no idea what an actual liberal believes. Not that I can fault you, for the longest time I thought conservative meant anal retentive bible thumper.

Last I checked, the teacher's didn't tase anyone. Read the post...the security guard did. I'm willing to bet that the teachers weren't standing off to the side cheering "tase her! tase her!" The point of my post, was that the teachers are damned no matter what they do. And that "tasing the teacher" is the most absurd statement I've ever heard. If you havn't noticed, our society has a way of finding every little thing that is not done perfectly. My point is, aside from locking this little girl in a room where she can't get out, how else are they supposed to stop this girl from leaving the room and trying to push someone else into traffic? or breaking somone's nose (which i believe was something else she did).

I could teach you what a liberal believed before Carter stole your balls.

Tough question. Define "classical." I was raised in a family that was Southern Democrat on both sides.

However, a Democrat then, and the term liberal then, were defined by very different terms than they are now.

Word to his mother... The definition gets more outrageous every year it seems.

I identified with and was defined by liberal ideology as it was growing up in the 60s and 70s.

When the Jimmy Carters and their ilk hijacked the party and definition of liberal to whiney-ass pussy, I jumped ship.

LOL...that's the best way I've ever heard it put. :clap2:

Let's just say I was a registered, Southern Democrat when the Democrats reflected my values more or less. When they no longer did, I no longer supported them.

It's coming to the same with the GOP. When they reflected my values, I supported them. I'm having a hard time differentiating the two parties anymore. If they didn't draw a line and choose up sides, and make sure the people know who is on what side, it would be hard to distinguish who is who by listening only to their political attributes.

Neither party, IMO, represents what's best for this Nation. They represent what they think is best for their respective party, perpetuating the bureaucracy, and having what they delude themselves and try to sell to us as "control."

In other words, both parties suck, and so do their candidates. Together or alone, they're doing their damnedest to let this nation slide into the abyss of being another socialist Euro-shithole.

Yeah I agree, I'm a little more conservative in values, but I don't identify strictly with the Republican Party or the Democrats. It irritates me that we're (in a way) forced to choose between these two parties. It also irritates me that, in running for the presidency, you have to be a millionaire to do so. Where's the Bull Moose Party when you need it. (joke)

Well, you didn't specify teachers. You just said perhaps "they" should have locked her in a room to cool off, and then said maybe they thought against it because they might get sued. and I said well "they" tased her instead, which is probably worse than locking her in a room to cool off.

Whoever "they" was, is still responsible by the school. No matter what happened, and by whom, it would still have been the school that took the heat from the parents.

See, the way you say that Carter and his ilk ruined the ideology of liberalism, I say Bush and HIS ilk ruined the ideology of conservatism.

ESPECIALLY Rove.

When the economy collapses, and they offer us their "solution" of integrating Mexico, Canada, and us together as one super-state or "union" if you will, with a new currency (which seems to be becoming more and more apparent), will you accept it, or will you join the many people who are already trying their hardest to stop it?

Well I'll agree that my choice of words was vague, however, if you had read the article, you would have seen that the person who tased the child was not a teacher.
On top of that a school security gaurd is most likely connected with the sherriff's/ police department, or another security organization. I have not yet heard of a school training it's own security guards. (I may be wrong, but have not heard of it). My point, is that it is extremely difficult for teachers to do anything in regards to disciplining students, especially when they go ballistic. Teachers are almost required not to defend themselves if student attacks them. They are trained (to a degree) how to detain a student, but if they don't do it in a specific way, they will be punished for that.

Yeah I hear you. I never thought it was a teacher anyway, I read the article, I know it was security guards. Instead of tasing her, the guards could have just locked her in the room like you said. I just pointed out that there's really no difference in regards to how the parents would have responded as far as lawsuits go, besides the fact that tasering is obviously worse than locking someone in a room for a little while.
