No. Not one embraced atheism in government, not a single one. But they did back the concept that the federal government would have no say in whether a person was a Christian, Jew, Atheist or whatever. There is NOTHING in the Constitution supporting separation of Church and State other than no religious test will be used to establish qualifications for federal office or appointment, i.e. no religious power will have any more say in what the government will be than any other citizens, and the federal government will not dictate any religious label or belief or interfere with anybody's exercise of their religion. There was no rule or implication that Congress itself could not be as religious as it chose to be or exercise its religion however or that the religious could not petition their government for what they hoped would be law just as other citizens can do.

Notice I used the word 'inadvertent'. The framers didn't intend for the government to promote atheism, but that's exactly what is happening by default when you disallow Christian laws. Abortion and gay marriage are the examples here,.

Yeah, but the problem is it inadvertently endorsed atheism by default, and thus is the reason for my series of threads calling for an amendment to get America declared a Christian nation. The founders had it right to create the separation of powers between the church and state. Some historians claim that was to protect the church from the state, while other historians state the opposite, that it was to protect the state from the church. Either way, it was a good safety feature in protecting human rights from either the abuses of the government or from religious leaders in power. Power has a way of decaying social morals and humans are imperfect creatures to say the least.

You miss the whole point. By failing to declare America a Christian nation, it left atheism as the default.

Recognizing a woman’s right to privacy and the equal protection rights of gay Americans to marry doesn’t violate the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment.

Government is not compelling Christians to have abortions or Catholics to allow same-sex couples to marry in the Catholic Church.

Government is not interfering with Christians to practice their beliefs; Christians are at liberty to oppose abortion and to not accommodate same-sex marriage in their churches.

Government requires taxpayer dollars to fund abortions. Government requires certain professions to participate in gay marriages. Also, American citizens are required to deal with the fall out of societal problems resulting from abortion and gay sex.

It's theists who don't understand that if you're against same sex marriage... then don't marry someone from the same sex. Nowhere does it say that religious rights come before any other right. Freedom of religion gives you the right to practise any religion you want to practise, but it doesn't give you the right to impose your views on others.
Don't like abortion? Don't have one, but leave the rest of the people the fuck alone. Pretty simple concept really.
