McCarthy and Greene on Tuesday both suggested that the companies would face repercussions for complying with the committee's request for data once Republicans are in control of the government. The committee asked 35 telecommunications and social media companies to supply it with the records on Monday.

Some of the requested records pertain to Greene and other Republican members of Congress who were involved in the January 6 "Stop the Steal" rally supporting former President Donald Trump's false claims that he "won" the 2020 election, according to CNN. Shortly after the rally, the Capitol was breached by rioters who claimed that Trump was a victim of election fraud.

it just shows you that the Republican Party is terrified of the truth being revealed on what occurred on 1/6. Certain Reps, like McCarthy, know their real time calls will reveal just how frightened and horrified they were on the day the Capitol was stormed and breached. Others, like Taylor-Green, are terrified that the subpoenas will reveal their links to the vandals.

Beyond all that, McCarty truly is a pathetic figure. He is constantly at war with the institution he hopes to lead. His actions are nothing more than desperate attempts to protect his sorry ass.

My guess is that McCarthy is your standard, craven, shameless politician who will do or say absolutely anything in the moment that he thinks will advance his political ambitions. Everything that people dislike about our "leaders".

MTG may be different. To me, she's essentially the female Sean Hannity, born of talk radio and Breitbart, a True Believer whose worldview is so simplistic and binary and insulated that she simply doesn't know any better. An absolutely perfect fit for the USMB Trumpsters -- ignorance mixed with arrogance.

mccarthy and Greene are such a hypocrites.

trump secretly got the phone records of many journalists at The Washington Post and the New York Times. trump also secretly got the phone records of some democrats including Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell.

trump even had the judge impose a gag order on the phone companies so they couldn't alert their customers about it.

We didn't find out about it until trump was out of office when the gag order expired and one of the phone companies alerted their customers.

But now that the committee is publicly asking for phone records, mccarthy and greene have a problem with it and threaten the phone companies.

Wow these people have a lot of nerve.

They're not. It's already been alluded to and Gym Jordan himself has said he was in contact with Trump several times that day, wanting him to deploy the National Guard..(riiiighhtttt.....).
What they are scared of is a public relations nightmare. Standing members of Congress aiding and abetting an insurrection, probably calling Trump to coordinate and tell him to keep up the good fight.
The worst would be if they found that any Republican member actually gave directions for the protesters that would have threatened the lives of Democrats in the building..or worse, the Vice President
and his family.

They have a huge distraction in Afghanistan that isn't going to last as long as they think it will. This would stop that momentum in its tracks.
