You prefer the Government simply take and take and take. I support the people. I recall WW2 when the Feds pleaded with the public to buy war bonds. They made it seem the war would be lost if dad did not pay them.
I would prefer that government live within its means and that everyone pay their fair share.
The thing about War bonds is that there was an expectation to pay them back.
Between 1787 and 1980, we ran up less than a trillion dollars in debt with all the wars, infrastructure, space programs, and social services because there was an understanding that you try to pay your debt.
Then along came Reagan and his idiotic "Voodoo Economics" of Supply side, and we tripled the debt in 12 years.
Here's the thing.
People want the government to do things.
People don't want to pay taxes to do those things.
Whenever I argue with a Wingnut about government spending, I ask them to give me a list of what we should cut, WITH NUMBERS and they can never come up with any. Why? Because the three biggest ticket items for the budget are Medicare, Social Security, and Defense, and those are all very popular.
