Xi Jinping vows Chinese 'reunification' with Taiwan in New Year speech

No, my DD214 says I'm pro-America.

My common sense tells me that starting a war with a country that has five times as many people as we do and nukes over some crappy little islands is just.. stupid. Certainly not in our best interest.
That proves nothing

Right. Go and visit Tibet or any other number of forbidden areas in which you need a "Tour Group" in order to visit. How about hotels which cannot accept foreign visitors?

They allow the minimum they need to ensure plenty of cash is injected into their economy. Basically major urban hubs.

...

Who told you all that?

My sources are irrelevant. Rest assured, they are legitimate.

You might do yourself a favor and seek answers yourself and then come back and debunk my statements.

Consider yourself debunked. I've been to Tibet without a tour group. I've stayed in hotels very far away from "major urban areas."

As I know you aren't too eager to seek answers I used a quick google search and found this. This is separate and independent from my own sources for the record:

Located quite literally on the lap of the Himalayas, Tibet is a traveler’s dream. However, if you’re a solo traveler planning to visit the plateau, you may want to re-evaluate your plans. Visiting Tibet without a guide as a foreign tourist isn’t a possibility.

Solo travel in Tibet

Regrettably, international tourists cannot travel without a guide in Tibet. Due to restrictions put in place by the Chinese government on its provinces, you cannot travel solo in Tibet as an independent tourist. Furthermore, international tourists have to be a part of a larger Tibet tour group to receive a Tibet travel permit.

Can I visit Tibet? Is there any age limit?

Of course, you can visit Tibet at any age, if you are physically able to adapt to high-altitude travel. The youngest tourist we had was an 8-month-old baby, while the oldest was 82 years old.

Please notice that even though you can visit Tibet without an age limit, you can’t visit Tibet independently. According to the Tibet travel policy, you need to book your Tibet tour through a registered local travel agency, either a group or a private one, and visit Tibet with a licensed guide and driver.

Google all you want, I have visited Tibet without a tour group.

Ahh, the good old days eh? Maybe you're a cop working with Chinese cops. They do allow Chinese cops access I am told.

China continues its crackdown on Tibetans as it has now detained Tibetan guides in order to restrict contact between locals and foreign visitors.

Uh, guy, China is a lot more open than you think it is. Certainly a lot more open than it was under Mao (who most Chinese still revere), but I've watched Chinese newscasts, and frankly, they don't look terribly different than ours. Maybe a little less vapid.
Except China kills dissidents, jails political opponents and enslaves populations.

Okay, I want you to write the letter to the mother of a soldier who died over Patag Island.

"Mrs. Smith,

I regret to inform you that your son, Private Snuffy Smith, died over Flat Island, an Island that is so small that it barely sticks out of the water, and will probably be submerged in a few years thanks to Global Warming. He bravely died defending this Island that is barely larger than half a hectare, but it was totally worth the soldiers we expended over it to give it to the Philippines, who don't have the resources to do much of anything with it.

Please be grateful that your son made such a meaningless sacrifice, given he only signed up for college benefits that were never going to happen because he barely passed his ASVAB.

Sincerely,

The Military Industrial Complex
All Praise Orange Hitler! "

It's bullshit.

I think what we need to do is to get you, Blisterfinger shockedcanadian and all the other airchair warriors who bravely serve up other people's sons to form your own little brigade and go occupy Flat Island yourselves. There's barely enough room for the three of you to stand on.
Nice story Joe

Now THAT is something you don't want to do; have anything to do with cops in Tibet. I could tell you stories...

Please do, friend...

I could probably share worse stories from Canada.

Well, one day I was strolling around Lhasa - alone - and in a market in the city center an oldish fella selling traditional Tibetan robes engaged me in friendly conversation. We chatted a bit and he showed me how to put on the robe and tie the belt and all that. A few people in neighboring street booths gathered in amusement at the sight of the foreigner wearing traditional Tibetan garb. It was one of those nice, friendly moments until a half dozen PLA goons appeared out of nowhere. The gathered group disappeared immediately, and the nice old guy selling robes took a rifle butt to the head. When I got between him and the goons they got all bent out of shape. Things were rapidly approaching a boiling point when the head goon in charge decided it might be too much trouble to make a big show out of an "international incident" with the foreigner. Good thing for me as they were all military-armed.

Not my last "almost conflict" with CCP authorities during our short visit to Tibet.

Well, these goons are more peaceful than the Canadian ones unfortunately.

"Crappy little island"

Well maybe that's where you are stumbling. Why talk this way? You surely understand Taiwan is much more important to the global economy than this.

Yes, they were. Too bad the military didn't recognize the signs they weren't well.

Was specifically talking about the Spratleys, which some of the anti-China Crazies think we need to send men to die over.

As for Taiwan, sure, it's important. No, it isn't worth starting World War III over.

Especially since we've already conceded that it's part of China.

Except China kills dissidents, jails political opponents and enslaves populations.

And we don't?

We lock up more people than China does.

Even though they have five times as many people.

Here's the thing, until we create utopia, we don't really have any business talking about internal affairs of other countries.

Human nature does not change

Churchill was exactly the right man for the time, though many at the time could not see it

Even though he is not even a pimple on the ass of the great man at this moment, trump is in exactly the same position Churchill was then

And I dont want to follow the example of Lord Halifax and Nevill Chamberlin
Amazingly he sucked in WWI. Trump is not in the same position since the US is not being bombed by an Axis member.

Joe is ok with the communists going to war over “useless” and “unimportant” little islands, but not ok with the true owners choosing to keep them
