Xi Jinping vows Chinese 'reunification' with Taiwan in New Year speech

China has a military of 2 million and Taiwan has a military of 200,000 which means Taiwan would kick their asses

Why?

Because China has to land those 2 million in small groups that will face 200,000 entrenched troops. China lacks the landing craft for a massive invasion.
Taiwan has only 13 beaches suitable for landing and those beaches are surrounded by mountains with passes heavily defended
In addition, China has never fought a modern war especially an amphibious landing. Look at how easily masses of Russian tanks defeated Ukraine (kidding). And Russia was right on their border
Taiwan has antiship missiles, mines, subs, drones to sink any invasion force
You are obviously far too much attached onto 80'ies computer war gaming strategies.

How far do you think they would go? My guess is that Taiwan sees itself as independent....but is too smart to light that fuse....
Taiwan is a province of China - as such they are as "independent" as any other Chinese province. Even though the majority of the Taiwanese population would prefer to be an independent nation.

Trump and the Western world is going to have a serious challenge if and when China attacks Taiwan. It alone could determine Trumps place in history.

Hong Kong was the test balloon and the world failed.

Chinese President Xi Jinping rang in the New Year with a national address from Beijing on Tuesday.

Xi notably asserted that "no one can stop" the reunification of Taiwan with China. Xi's government has routinely made threats to forcibly take over the self-governed island.

"The people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are one family. No one can sever our family bonds, and no one can stop the historical trend of national reunification," Xi said in a speech televised on China's state broadcaster CCTV.
college friend of mine predicted it about 50 years ago---She was from
TAIWAN and seemed to believe that it is a GOOD IDEA

:auiqs.jpg: say's who? You?

Says a lot of people who know about what's going on in China.

But then, based on your shit reply, there's not point in showing you, because you're not interested in serious debate.

If threats are his routine what makes you believe that this one is different?

OK Skippy
I have detailed why I think an invasion will fail
How do you envision China successfuly invading Taiwan?

Trump has no stomach for fighting for other countries
He is an isolationist
He is against nation-building. He is about as far from being an isolationist as he can be. He destroyed ISIS in Iraq and Syria and then pulled out almost all our troops. You seem to have forgotten.

Well Chip or Chap,
IF the PRC is forced to invade Taiwan, you can be sure that there will be no significant Taiwanese Armed Forces left, by the time a military invasion would take place. And that prerequisite, doesn't even necessitate a ground based military intervention by the PRC on Taiwan itself.

Our Debt Is Asia's Fortune Cookie

We should spin off these gutless Asian parasites. Give China the right to a Monroe Doctrine in its sphere of influence, which is no way any of our business. If China takes back Taiwan, we can trade with it just the same.

Not according to Taiwan!

Actually, according to Taiwan, they ARE a province of China.

Taiwan calls itself - the Republic of China! They have maintained this fiction since "LIttle Peanut" was kicked off the mainland in 1949.

Our own state department recognizes Taiwan as part of China, as does the United Nations.

Hopefully china will agree to supply our military needs after they invade Taiwan and corner the market on electronics

Right?

Xi is building up the communist military while the obama-biden junta is weakening the US military

So each year the threat becomes more credible

Except, of course, we spend far more on our military than China does, and we project power all over the world.

We drop bombs, the Chinese build roads. And we wonder why people are starting to like China better.

We pay our military more than china pays its cannon fodder

And we have global responsibilities that the communist navy dies not have

In a conflict Xi can concentrate all his forces in/on the South China , making us the underdogs

Finally, without overwhelming superiority we will pay a high price in casualities.

A price that I dont want to pay
