I sure wouldn't.

I have raised 5. You don't take babies or small children to fancy restaurants.

And if you can't find a babysitter then go somewhere else more family friendly.
Or how about this novel idea. Train your children to act like civilized human beings. I raised my daughter from the age of two in proper table manners and etiquette and she never so much as looked over the back of a booth at fellow diners.

True, but I think that it was an actual infant.

There are occasions when the parents of infants have no other option as is the case if they are traveling. What would you suggest a couple who are staying in a hotel do? Starve their child and go hungry?

They wouldnt be going to a fancy restaurant while traveling with a child.
They should stop and order something to go if their child is an issue.
I can understand if they're flying and they have no choice but to bring the kid along but even then it sucks to be a captive audience for hours on end.
Hell give the kid a small dose of Benadryl and they'll snooze for hours.

I agree with everything except that last sentence since it's children we're talking about here.

Umm,.. go to another restaurant?
Or maybe the other patrons could quit being a bunch of whining Karens and have some compassion for parents who might just be in a difficult situation that is beyond their making. You, April, of all people, I would expect to understand with the problems you have cited about your life and having to cope.

Ummm,... I never had to cope with crying babies in fancy restaurants because I never go to them and I don't have children yet lol this situation has absolutely nothing to do with mine.

Yeah, there are restaurants where a crying baby would not be out of place. Do you best to quiet the kid.

While I don't generally go to "nice" restaurants, I have to admit that I reached a point as a parent where I almost didn't even hear my own kid...not crying, but babbling before he knew how to talk. A couple times I realized in church that others might be disturbed by noise that I was barely aware of.

My fault. Absolutely.

Find a McDonald's, a gas station with a convenience store, a grocery store pick up bread and lunch meat. Most grocery stores have a delicious. Going to a fine dining restaurant should never be an option, not even if the infant is a qualified sommelier.

If a couple can't figure it out, go hungry and your brat too.

I am a bit defensive of the parents. I have been in such a situation where we arrived in a smaller town in OR. We arrived after the dinner hour with no other options than the restaurant attached to the hotel. Our daughter was not disruptive, and we asked for something as simple as a slice of toast. Our meal came -- no toast. I took it as a snub and left no tip. There are occasions that things happen. With the info in the story to go on--I think the complaining party is a Karen.
