Would You Get Out of Your Car?

Are you getting out of the car?

I'd try to turn around. They may shoot me. No telling nowadays.

Well, we agree on that. But, those goons were masked, unidentified, and when they got out, were wearing gear marked police, when they clearly were not local police and no guarantee, they were anybody official. I would have floored it in reverse, whipped around on the new course without stopping (just as the government trained me) and driven to real police or at least a very public populated location, where other people can observe, possibly film and report what happened. If you do not know who is attacking you, you have no obligation to stick around and find out, if they plan to shoot you, beat the shit out of you, possibly rob you, hijack your car or anything else. Real law enforcement is identifiable in marked cars, identifiable uniforms, etc. Do not follow thugs around, whether from the bad part of town or from out of town, but do not be taken by thugs out of sight of public observation, if you can possibly avoid or evade.
It appears to me that she was following them around. Do you think differently?

She probably was, and apparently recording constant on here dash cam, but if not interfering, there is no law against it. Anybody that thinks that town police chief affected whether she was charged is nuts. The released her without charges, because they had none that would stick in Federal Court and would only embarrass the Feds in state court.

She was following them around, they lit her up, she failed to yield, started attempting to flee ignoring traffic laws, she called 9-11 and told the dispatcher she wasn't going to stop (until she did), and wasn't going to get out of the vehicle (until they pulled her out) and that they could not arrest her because she was an observer (that didn't turn out to be a magic word anyway and they busted her).

Just trying to help my fellow citizens understand they cannot be vigilantes doing whatever crosses their minds, or pretend they are protected by words that won't protect them in the first place, and pretend it shouldn't have happened because the Freedom of Speech is some kind of protection blanket for stupidity. If you for one second actually think that you are not doing anything wrong, then there is no need to attempt to flee, and things will work out a shitload better for you.

If she did anything correctly, I will give her credit for requesting a supervisor on the scene (she asked for a "commander" on the 9-11 call), but unfortunately she didn't do that when they were going to just stop her in the first place, started driving like maniac, and broke the seal on "Oh no fool, you're getting out of the vehicle", and it just went downhill from there.

Still, there were no charges filed, and they did not even make it to the ICE detention center before releasing her at the police station. WHY? The Feds intimidated by a small town Sherriff? NO WAY. Right or wrong, they eat small town law enforcement for breakfast and walk away with a satisfied burp. THEN WHY? They never intended to arrest and charge, (making it basically an illegal stop, to infringe her rights to observe government authorities carrying out their duties) knowing they could never get it past a jury, anywhere in the country? MAYBE. OTHER WHY? Orders from higher, meant to diffuse more bad publicity on operations perceived questionable (if not outright illegal) and against even internal policies and procedures, due to recent mistakes made? QUITE LIKELY.

It is interesting to note, if you or I follow one person around recording video of all of their activities, it is regarded as stalking. People recognize stalking as always a violation of ill defined rights of privacy, at best, a prelude to action that could endanger an individual. This is not the case with observing US Government operatives, operating in public. WHY? People were brought up, with the concerns of the framers of the Constitution, not to trust the Federal Government to automatically do the right thing and value the rights of citizens. WHY? Too many examples down through history of normally benign governments around the world acting with tyranny, and disregard for the rights of citizens as people, often leading to tragic ends, ethnic and political cleansing resulting in the deaths of thousands, even millions and war. WHY ELSE? Our Constitution was geniusly created to self correct at the hands of the people, by creating defined Rights for protection from big government overreach. WHY ELSE? Many times, our own Government has ignored the rights of our citizens simply, often turning out very badly for citizens, momentarily powerless to resist, so these breaches by the Government increasing beyond normal, prompt the "Slippery Slope" response, to avoid escalation of government to the "no going back" point in the destruction of rights, observed in other countries with less stringent protection of the people, in the courts, than we have maintained here, to avoid the power of Government forces to change the course of our country from a form of democratic representative form to autocratic rule by a single person or group of elites running the government and the country.

Yeah-yeah blah-blah-blah, I have already mentioned that agents sitting someone in the back of a patrol vehicle long enough to unfuck themselves before releasing them, may be a bit inconvenient and stretching things some but in all honesty, I will not be terribly upset if they do.

Feel free to get your panties in a wad, if it seems to be so egregious that you feel the need to encourage other people to do some pretty stupid shit, endangering their wellbeing as well as others, but I will not be part of that.

I am a realist above all else, and I fully understand that we do not live in a perfect world where what should happen always happens, and I am not too sure exactly how your fantasy world will work out.

I understand you though, so that's not a problem. :auiqs.jpg:

Are you safter in the car?
You’re safer if you don’t stop in the middle of nowhere. There is a reason these guys pulled her over out there. Of course when 3 “agents” (still haven’t identified themselves officially) point guns at you...

You are not a realist, but simply a statist: : A person who supports the extension of the power and influence of the state in regulating or controlling all aspects of life, particularly economic and social policy. As an adjective, it describes policies, principles, or attitudes supportive of a strong centralized government.

Well whatever, I all but clearly stated you have the propensity to believe whatever suits your desires.
I am in no way required to embrace utter stupidity as a better option., in order to avoid your ill founded scorn and misconceptions :auiqs.jpg:

Not to mention that I don't expect you to know what I really think, because you cannot stop yourself from fighting long enough to listen to what anyone else is saying, much less even remember the topic of the thread we are in. And that's a reality, whether or not you feel like fighting about it.

Yes, there IS a reason why these guys pulled her over. Glad you finally realize that.

Depending on the situation they really needed to show I.D. I know people here in Florida who not only leave the car but would be fully armed themselves. I would need to see a well marked local police vehicle anda uniformed officer before I would comply. But does depend on the situation before hand. Old news film from the1960s shows similar situations involving National Gaurd.
Texas also. If you can legally own a firearm you generally can have said firearm in a vehicle with you.

I think you should get your eyes checked. Those officers were wearing POLICE emblazoned across their chests as well as badges. Your inept attempt to sensationalize what should have been a simple traffic stop is noted. I suppose you agree with the actual vigilante road blocks that are set up in MN by your anarchist buddies. Have another bon bon.

I’d ask to see their identification and credentials

Based on only what is seen within the video, that's also my thought. Location seemed rather isolated and no identification was provided by those making demands.

Without all the facts, I'm left with suspicion that both sides over-reacted.

Well if they are bad guys you're already in a world of hurt at that point yes?
The whole jumping in front of her with guns out and pointed at the driver is either extreme or there is a lot more to the story.

Well, they are there to (allegedly) round up illegals.

She wasn’t illegal.

So no there wasn’t a reason for them to do that. if someone assaults you (as I’m sure they will allege) complete with the internal bleeding kannard, you call the police and they issue a warrant. You don’t chase them down yourself and point a gun at them.

Nope. They are wearing something you can buy at any soldier of fortune type gun show.

I didn’t add anything to the sad episode of official oppression there fido. Now go play in the yard.
