Would Americans support US troops seizing and occupying Kharg Island ?

First, I'm not a Commie or a Jihadists

Second, When I can see a terrible idea, I'll speak up

Third, putting Marines on a static Island with nothing to do except dodge missiles is a Terrible Idea Squared!
you have no idea about how important strategically and economically important that island is do you .. face it .. the Islamofascist regime the you and your comrades have allied with is getting pounded .. commie ..

Show of hands, who thinks parking a Marine expeditionary force on an Island with no cover and in range of every enemy drone and missile is a good idea?

What's their mission, assuming Iran allows them to land on the island?
An Iranian attack would cripple their only way of generating an income. I doubt they would do that.

If they had no cover then no. However.. if we do I would hope those details are taken into account. I dont believe it would take many people at all to be there anyhow... seeing as theres no way the Iranians are going to launch a counter assault with troops across the straight. They would be blown out of the water before they made it half way.
There is no real strait there. The island is in the Persian Gulf, not the Strait of Hormuz.

And you're willing to bet the lives of 5,000 US Marines on a pointless exercise?

What do you suppose Iran is thinking now, "If the Marines land on Kharg we'll have to surrender and let Trump pick our leader?"

I can't imagine a more pointless exercise for the USMC. It's as criminally stupid as sneak attacking Iran in the first place because of Jared's tingling Spidey Sense.

We've all seen the reports of the USS Tripoli headed towards the Persian Gulf carrying thousands of Marines , Armor , ect .. It wouldn't be a surprise if said troops are being sent to occupy Kharg Island, an area of critical strategic and economic importance to the Islamofascist regime in Iran .. Even though there's a very good chance that US troops will not face any major resistance if they land on Kharg Island , would it still been seen as a reversal of Trumps claim of no boots on the ground in Iran ? or would Americans view the occupation of said undefended island as not putting troops on the ground in Iran? would Americans view it as a good strategic move to put even more pressure on the Islamofascist regime ?

Does it solve the problem of the Iranian blockade of the Strait?

The mission is to cut off Iran’s income

They would no longer be able to sell oil

But I recommend using Saudi or Kurdish troops

Not to make a prediction, but the days of storming ashore into machine gun fire, or aerial assaults from helicopters are long over.

If Trump wants Kharg Island occupied, the military has other means, methods, and weapons, such as what happened during the arrest of Maduro. Admiral Cooper has all kinds of fancy options to select from.
I agree. It would be a symbolic move at best.

If we are even to put boots on the ground in Iran, it should be to first, confirm that all the nuclear material has been destroyed or buried and not leaking. Then (maybe) as a temporary occupation to aid the people of Iran in fending off the Islamofascists, while they try to secure their freedoms.

It would be a great help if they could at least name a leader to help reach that end.

Wait

Are you one of the Israel Propagadists trying to gaslight me?

LOL

I dont really share your negativity on this however, I appreciate you speaking your mind and going against the grain. How you see things are how you see things..and at least you have a rationale for it.
I still believe this is way too early on to be giving up..and I have a lot of confidence in what our military can do
I'm not saying you are doing this.. your just one person with an opinion... but I didnt appreciate members of congress calling it a failure while our pilots are still in the air on day 2.. its sort of giving aid and hope to the enemy in time of war. At the very least its not professional. Their first criticizims should have been behind closed doors.

And you think they'd be OK with that?

See where I'm wrong. So it's either let the Marines land and take over Iranian revenue, or defeat the expeditionary force and only have to make repairs to the Island

What's your call?

When the Trump 47 Administration started, attacking Iran was not in my top Million things on the "To Do" list

So this is all a Long, Strange Trip.

And this is all done without going to Congress or our Allies, except of course our "Greatest Ally"

I prefer not to use US Marines but essentially option one is the answer

Cut off Iran’s income

I think we have som esort of brain scrambling device as well which can immobilize mass numbers of troops.
Something with sound frequencies.
Correct.
Microwave and sound weapons. Scary shit. You don't want to be on the receiving end. Drop a disc from an Apache helicopter that releases these weird energy pulses and the next thing you know, your nose is bleeding and you're totally disoriented because the liquid in your inner ear is heating up like it's in a microwave and you're dizzy and throwing up.
Jesus.
What will they think of next? :huh1:

If we are even to put boots on the ground in Iran, it should be to first, confirm that all the nuclear material has been destroyed or buried and not leaking. Then (maybe) as a temporary occupation to aid the people of Iran in fending off the Islamo-fascists, while they try to secure their freedoms. It would be a great help if they could at least name a leader to help reach that end.
Kharg needs to be first to control Iran's oil flow and revenue stream.
After Iran is pacified we could worry about finding the uranium.

When faced with unpleasant choices, take the most logical one.

First second or third. It's all important.

I don't see why we couldn't do more than one thing at once.

But, one thing I think is crucial. . . someone needs to be working with and helping organize the people of Iran who simply want freedom from their oppressors.

Next?? I have no idea but I understand there was some collateral damage during the development stages of what we have now
