Around 90 per cent of Iran’s crude oil exports pass through Kharg Island, which is home to that country's key refineries.

Earlier, Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported multiple strikes on Kharg Island, while the Iranian Red Crescent said a railway line in Karaj had been hit.

Local media outlet Nournews also reported disruptions to the electricity supply in parts of Karaj after projectiles struck transmission lines."

"US futures reversed earlier gains and oil advanced following reports that Iran's Kharg island was targeted earlier on Tuesday, while the market was largely paralyzed ahead of Trump’s 8pm ET deadline for Iran to agree to a ceasefire or face escalation. As of 8:00am ET, S&P futures are down 0.4%, and Nasdaq futures slide 0.6%. In premarket trading, all Mag7 names are lower even as AVGO (+3% pre-mkt) is bid after a TPU supply pact with GOOGL (+55bps) while ASML (-80bps) is weaker following a proposed US law that would further curb semiconductor exports to China (targeting ASML’s deep ultraviolet lithography machine ). Managed care is well bid after the final Medicare Advantage rate of +2.48% (vs ~1% bogey) was released last night (HUM +9%, CVS +7%, UNH +6%, ALHC +11%). Bond yields rise 1bp, 10Y TSY yield at 4.34%, the USD is also higher while commodities are mixed with oil reversing earlier losses and rising over 2%. Today’s macro data focus is weekly ADP, Durable / Cap Goods, and NY Fed 1-year Inflation Expectations. Ultimately, expect weaker volumes today with some market swings on unconfirmed ceasefire / deal chatter."

The US is a net exporter of gasoline and the vast majority of the gas we import is from Canada via pipelines. It far more likely that the price of gas goes way up if this lunacy in Iran continues which would drive gas consumption down. Since we already produce all the gas we need, I find it hard to believe that consumption being driven down by the war will then cause a shortage.

What is far more likely to happen is that people will limit their driving to essential travel due to the increased cost. Can you really not see how those 2 scenarios are wildly different:?

I also believe that since Trump stated that We are "Energy Independent",...... That America's Fuel/Energy costs should be extremely cheap.
