Worst. Ranking. List. EVER!!!

Coolidge is notorious as a hands off President. Let the children do what they want ...what could possibly go wrong?
Yes, we had some short term prosperity as the Stock Market built into a huge unsupportable bubble
None of that caused the depression. All the amateur investors that gambled all their money and lost it, caused the depression. Coolidge provided the money by being a damn good president.

Coolidge did not exactly "DO" anything as President

Amateur investors putting in their nickels and dimes did not cause the depression. A collapse of that magnitude requires major capital

and that list is probably about right given president Obama bailed the wingnut bigot asses out of the recession caused by baby bush blowing up the economy. Ronald Reagan and dubya are too high up on the list though and Nixon would have been near the top if he hadn't been such a paranoid nutter.

What historians?
This particular panel of historians consisted of 91 historians selected and organized by C-Span. The metrics consisted of judging each President on a scale using ten "leadership" attributes. Most of these historian panels/groups consist of significantly large numbers of participants and include a wide range of historians of differing leanings and political influences.
This is only the third group and rating done by C-Span. To have genuine confidence in accuracy other ratings by other groups need to be compared.

Right off the top, putting Obama anywhere near that high destroys any confidence in the accuracy of the opinions. What exactly did he do, other than create domestic and international chaos?

"Commanding moral authority"? How insulting.
Perhaps understanding the use of the metrics is beyond your intellectual ability. Clinton got a high rating in some metrics, such as the economy and ability to work with Congress to pass legislation. He got a bottom of the barrel rating for moral authority and that is what will hinder him getting a higher rating forever.

The use of metrics is still nothing more than an exercise of opinion. These rankings are in large part an exercise of personal political affections.

By all logic and common sense, Obama resides somewhere in the bottom ten. His only saving grace was that he was a bit more useless than he was damaging. Still, we will be years in repairing the damage he and his media cronies caused.

If they are a result of personal political affections.....How did Eisenhower and Reagan rank so high?

exactly correct... Obama deranged loons hate that.

it's so cute.

Eisenhower somewhat too high, and Reagan, way too high. Above Truman? Nonsense. Yet I know people who Reagan inspired, and Eisenhower was a great General, plus took action to desegregate. We all have our likes and dislikes. I agree lack of moral stature hurts Clinton. Nixon is rising, which is good, despite his paranoia, he was a genius in foreign affairs.

A "prize" or "award" based on subjective opinions by a small group of people is not comparable to large group of experts using objective data in a mathematical analysis or set metrics.

Determining Obama's legacy at this time is subjective. Time needs to pass and only a period of time can make that process and evaluation accurate or objective.

don't be a dingbat. Obama was a disaster for the country and the Democrat party who he left behind in shambles. Racial strife, crumbling infrastructure, stagnant economy and a very broken health care system are what he left in his wake.

The only excuse you have is that he got handed a terrible economy and the GOP didn't cooperate with his hopey-changy spiel. A great leader like Reagan would have solved, not exacerbated these things and his legacy would have ensured that the torch would have been extended to his selected successor and not one of his chief critics.

The embers of a failed presidency lie wrought upon the streets of Chicago's south side, the deserts of Syria and every other hell hole helped create.

FDR enslaved American citizens and forced them them to die in Hitler's meatgrinder.

FDR was, without any significant competition, the most fucking evil slaveholder in American history. No other slavedriver even comes close.

Eisenhower has been rising. He was low key as a President, but his accomplishments and leadership is becoming more appreciated. Can you imagine trying to build an interstate highway system today or launching NASA?

Reagan will drop as his legacy becomes clearer. His policies destroyed the middle class and created our love affair with deficit spending

Nixon was an effective President in his handling of Vietnam, recognizing China, foreign affairs, EPA
But his personal flaws doomed him

Hilarious list. #1 gets hundreds of thousands of Americans killed and outlawed slavery. #3 not only reinstituted slavery, he enslaved American citizens and sent them overseas to use as cannon fodder in wars that has absolutely nothing to do with US national security. And got hundreds of thousands of Americans killed.

Whoever made that list must have some sort of virulent hatred of Americans.
World War ll had everything to do with National Security. Germany was demanding a cessation of trade between the US and Europe, particularly Great Britain. And it was more than just a demand. Before the war even began German submarines were attacking ships carrying US exports to Great Britain. Even US Naval shipps were attacked with great loss of US Naval personnel on the attacked Naval ships. US Navy sailors were being sent to the bottom of the ocean. All this in the middle of the Great Depression. I suppose that in your way of thinking a foreign power sinking US Navy ships was not a threat to National Security.

In regards to the other side of the world, Japan was posing a threat to American interest and security in their part of the world. Not only did they pose these threats to American ports and military post, they posed a threat to the Russians on the Chinese Russian border and were preparing for an escalation of war which would cause the Russians to respond and hence, greatly weaken their ability to help defeat Germany.

Again, your analysis lacks common sense if you think the Japanese threat towards trade and more importantly, the threat to annihilate the US military installations at places like the Philipines was not a National Security threat is a great distortion. and fantasy.

Japan was steadily continuing to build their already huge Navel forces specifically for the purpose of conducting war with the US. Thankfully, FDR prepared for the wars with Germany and Japan by supporting development of the weapons of war that were needed to defeat those two superpowers.

One of the things FDR is not given proper credit for is his experience and knowledge gained as Assistan Secretary of the Nave during WW l. He learned how to develop new advanced weapons of war. This he did quietly and without fanfare so that when the war came, the industrial might of America was able to immediately shift into high gear to produce the weapons that would win the war. Everything from the M-I Garrand to modern aircraft carriers, bombers to fighter aircraft, etc., were tooled and being produced or prepared for production when they were needed.

Eisenhower has been rising. He was low key as a President, but his accomplishments and leadership is becoming more appreciated. Can you imagine trying to build an interstate highway system today or launching NASA?
My libertarian/objectivist ass is beginning to agree. Those types of programs are uniquely proper functions of government.
Reagan will drop as his legacy becomes clearer. His policies destroyed the middle class and created our love affair with deficit spending
I must be feeling ill today. I agree with you again.
Nixon was an effective President in his handling of Vietnam, recognizing China, foreign affairs, EPA
But his personal flaws doomed him
Dammit! Stop making me agree with you, commie!!!

Although, Nixon's actions with China/foreign affairs and the EPA were appropriate, it opened the door for serious abuse by both of the U.S. authoritarian statist parties.

Wow. You missed that while Hitler thing?

And when their Fascist ally attacked Pearl harbor, OBVIOUSLY. Hitler "had plans" for the USA. The west would go to Japan, east to Germany and parts to Italy.
