I nominate:
Charlie Sheen
Nicolas Cage
Angie Dickinson as not that good

I wouldn't even call these actors--they just read lines:
Patrick Swayze
in Roadhouse and Steel Dawn he was terrible
Arnie Schwarzeneggar

Robert Downey Jr. I like him. But he always plays himself.

Gweneth Paltrow talks through her nose.

Actually there really aren't very many good actors/actresses in Hollywood.

..I don't watch too many of the new movies, so I don't know the actors/actresses too well
...maybe it's like a lot of things, people were ''better'' in the old days...?

Of it weren't for special effects, Hollywood would be out of business these days

You nailed it with Nicholas Cage. He plays the same guy in every movie. Himself...

...but sometimes SFX make the movies look ridiculous--Pearl Harbor was horrendous with the SFX
..and Ben Affleck is not that good
then they had nuclear carriers in the movie!!

But that's kind of the problem. A truly good actor would be one who can completely disappear into the role.

For instance, when they did that OJ Series last year, and John Travolta played the role of Robert Shapiro, he completely disappeared into the role,to where I had to remind myself, that's John Travolta

But when an actor becomes a name actor, you expect him to play his signature character.

I brought up the thread while watching Shoot To Kill again with Sidney Portier [ great ] and Tom Berenger [ bad ]
I can't believe Platoon with Berenger and Sheen won best picture!!
but they do give best pictures to some bad movies

Nicholas Cage in the movie Con Air had the worst southern accent in the history of cinema. .... :cuckoo:
good point....same in a lot of movies with actors' accents
John Lithgow [ good actor ] tried some goofy accent in Cliffhangar --but it was bad/abnormal/idiotic

This thread should have Keanu Reeves all over it

totally agree--I forgot about him--especially in Point Break
I remember his line:
''I am an FBI agent'' --screaming it .....horrible/cringe worthy

some, even the older actors, get by on screen presence.

Wayne, mush as I liked his movies, couldn't act his way out of a paper bag.

but he had screen presence.

For the male category................................Rowdy Roddy Piper. My husband is a huge fan of shitty movies so I can take this category hands down.
