The eminently quotable John Kennedy is nothing more than a Louie Gohmert fan boy. He's quotable mostly for his absurd remarks and twisted view of reality. Our Country Was Founded by Geniuses, but It's Being Run by Idiots

The Founding Fathers best decision was to only let the smart people vote.
The problem is that no organization has figured out how to do the checks and balances, because they have not figured out how to correctly separate the competing entities. Just because our civics teachers and politicians tell us that there are checks and balances, that does not mean they work correctly.
Any error in the construction of the separation inevitably leads to an unbalance of power, and errors in the checks on power.
It is highly unlikely that an improper separation is not going to adversely affect the checks on power.
The checks and balances are broken only because congress has deliberately abandoned their oversight power almost entirely. The fault is almost entirely with the republicans and their unitary executive policy. Since Reagan they have been expanding executive power when there is a republican president and then crying like bitches when democratic presidents dare use those powers.2013 was when I figured it out.

I sort of agree. The Founding Fathers best decision was to only let the smart people vote. When voting was opened up to everyone, America started going downhill.
You don't understand the system if you are blaming it on one party or the other. The checks and balances are broken only because congress has deliberately abandoned their oversight power almost entirely.
