The problem is that no organization has figured out how to do the checks and balances, because they have not figured out how to correctly separate the competing entities. Just because our civics teachers and politicians tell us that there are checks and balances, that does not mean they work correctly.

Any error in the construction of the separation inevitably leads to an unbalance of power, and errors in the checks on power.

It is highly unlikely that an improper separation is not going to adversely affect the checks on power.

The checks and balances are broken only because congress has deliberately abandoned their oversight power almost entirely. The fault is almost entirely with the republicans and their unitary executive policy. Since Reagan they have been expanding executive power when there is a republican president and then crying like bitches when democratic presidents dare use those powers.

I sort of agree.

If voting was only based on those who have a stake in the system, it would probably work much better.

If you were required to either own property, or have a job in order to vote? The whole system would probably work much much better.

You don't understand the system if you are blaming it on one party or the other.

The fault lay with the design.

They tried to correct it a few times, but the legal profession has been bought off, and since they did not explicitly publicly fund campaigns in the founding documents, nor did they explicitely define the role of corporation from the start, and errect a wall between public power and corporate power, you have a highly partisan view of how it all works.

In truth? There is no difference in the two parties, or how the politicians from both parties work.
