Without tariffs…how do we bring back jobs and groom Americans to buy American made again?

How did we manage for decades?
All nations import what they aren’t capable of making or growing. This really isn’t a complex issue.
Huh. OK, we agree.

If I may I'd like to add that the tariffs we had 4 years ago (imho) we skillfully crafted to not cause inflation but be borne by the sellers. This was done by tariffing only those goods where we had readily available alternatives. In a situation like that the tariffed vendor is force to eat the tariff or loose the sale.

Contrast that to tariffing all imported bananas, coffee, and chocolate --those vendors would just up their prices. We didn't. I'm glad.

America peaked after WWII, by the 60s it was already heading down. It has little to do with the brown people are you are afraid of.
hahaha…because a globalist said so?
America kicked ass well into the 90’s…then a demography shift started to take its toll. Look at the timelines bud…it’s undeniable…it hurts your feelings but it’s undeniable.
Public Education - gone to shit since the invasion
Healthcare - gone to shit since the invasion
The middle class - gone to shit since the invasion
Wages - gone to shit since the invasion
Blue collar trade work / industries - gone to shit since the invasion
Home ownership attainability - gone to shit since the invasion
Quality of life - gone to shit since the invasion
Personal debt, national debt, deficit spending, division among the citizenry on a steep incline since the invasion.
But you’ll chalk it all up to crazy ******* coincidence won’t you? hahahaha

uh.. .can't care. I tried. I really did. But, nothin'.

Hold on…so the “world changes” is the best you got?
The world changes so we abandon our basic tenets/framework? How’d that work out for us? How’s it working out for us?

What worked well in 1860 no longer does. I get that you have a hard time accepting that simple fact, but it is what it is

hahaha…You just demonstrated the exact affect that tariffs are suppose to have by design. They are supposed to drive consumers to buy American made goods…American manufactures are suppose to recognize the increase in demand and in response they increase supply…This is rudimentary commerce, we did it for centuries.
The mechanism takes time to work, we have to be patient.
If increasing supply is through automation, how does that help Americans in having good paying jobs?

Tariffs are a blunt instrument.

They work for specific industries for specific reasons

Putting tariffs on products we don’t and can’t make on anything like the scale that matters does nothing but increase their cost

Guess what Sherlock. Increasing corporate taxes drives existing businesses over the border because they are unable to compete.

You guys are pretty dense.

Libs hate tariffs because they were Trumps idea…because they know that in time they’d be affective..but lets say they’re right and that tariffs would suck in the long run…Do they have a better idea to return manufacturing and jobs to America?
Have you ever read a book? Or is all just talk radio?

There’s an enormous cost to moving. A balance can be found

Then you tell me what you think?

What I think is that there are 1000s of jobs that are not either serving fries or working in a factory.

I am a data analyst, my wife is an RN. Between us we will bring in close to 300k this year.

The US dominance on the world is coming to an end....mostly because of the 35T in debt we have.

But it is ok, almost every empire that has fallen still exist in the form of a country and are doing just fine
I would love to not be the worlds policeman anymore.
