The US dominance on the world is coming to an end....mostly because of the 35T in debt we have.

But it is ok, almost every empire that has fallen still exist in the form of a country and are doing just fine

I would love to not be the worlds policeman anymore.

This idea of saving money by cutting defense is misled. Defense is just 13% of the federal budget. Social programs (health care, social security, education, economic security, etc.) is 58% --almost five times defense.

National debt is serious. If you want to bring it down cut social programs and forget defense.

Just 13%....

Social security is self funded, or should be if our elected official did not **** around with it. It should in no way add to the deficit.

Education is less than 3% of the Fed Budget. Now I am all for getting rid of the Dept of Ed, but it will not save much money

We could cut I am betting close to 10% by getting rid of the "you have to use it or lose it next year" mentality that is SOP in the Govt. When I was in the Marines I would get in trouble if there was money left at the end of Sept. We would send our pilots on cross country mission they did not need for training just to use up money. NAS Key West was a very popular spot for this.

How about instead of punishing agencies that come in under budget we reward them by letting them keep some of that money for the following year.

At some point that could change. Of course we have spent 200 billion dollars in Ukraine for nothing. We have Progs making Iran rich and we see what is happening. And Prog are now playing all sides against each other in the middle east. The taxpayers are on the hook for this.
