I'm from rural farming and was shocked to see a family friend who's ran Deere for generations operating Case equipment. I asked my mom and she said downtime was costing them money

Well not everyone, but there are environmental groups who for years would rather see mining and other heavy industry done in other countries, but not in their back yard. To an extent its quite understandable to have regulations, but not to shut down REAL industry, which is what has happened.

A large part of Deere's problem is right to repair. There's currently legislation pending on it. If you own it you should have the right to repair it by whom ever you want
