Foul? Nope, it is the kind of short sighted thinking I expect. So, none of you will cry foul if the GOP changes the rules to allow the CR to pass with a simple majority?
Since it's a demscum lie, yes we can refute it.The MAGAsouls cannot refute the documented truth:
As long as demscum want healthcare for illegals, and the other insane proposals, the Schumer shutdown will continue. As long as Republicans insist on slashing Americans' healthcare coverage under Medicaid and the ACA, no progress will be made.
State-by-State Data – 13.7 Million People Would Lose Health Insurance from Medicaid, ACA Cuts
100% correct. The House passed a clean bill, Senate Republicans support that bill, and Trump has no part to play until a bill hits his desk. This is Schmuck Schumer's shutdown. Own it.
Schumer doesnt control the calendar. The GOP does. There is no budget even if the CR is passed. Why are they not working on it?Because Shumer locked the Capitol bldg down? No security, maintained or
Dems LOVE to LIE don't they. The House already passed the budget CR. Democrats in the Senate are the ones who voted no and shutdown government. Not once, not twice but half a dozen times.Make no mistake about it ......
With the government officially shut down, let’s be clear about one thing:
Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. This is THEIR shutdown.
Um . . . because the government is shutdown. You haven't heard? You should listen to Schumer more often. He said "every day gets better for us."Schumer doesnt control the calendar. The GOP does. There is no budget even if the CR is passed. Why are they not working on it?
This is a major problem when extremists who are not willing to compromise gain control of a major political party as they have done with the Republican party. Democracy doesn't work that way.Make no mistake about it ......

Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. This is THEIR shutdown.
They have every tool to govern. Instead, they chose chaos. And now the American people are the ones paying the price.
Thousands of workers are going without pay. Families are seeing their benefits delayed. Small businesses cannot access the loans they depend on.
Republicans not showing up for work don't get paid damn it .............
The question was "why isn't congress working on passing the Appropriation Bills?"Um, because the government is shutdown. You should listen to Schumer more often. He said "every day gets better for us."
Is every day getting better for you during the shutdown?
If not, I suppose Chuck Schumer does not include you in "us."
The shutdown doesnt keep congress from working, the majority leadership does. You do know that they arent connected, right?Um . . . because the government is shutdown. You haven't heard? You should listen to Schumer more often. He said "every day gets better for us."

Oh.The question was "why isn't congress working on passing the Appropriation Bills?"
They both passed three, but need a conference to get them finalized.
The other 9 need to be passed by both houses, so why aren't they working on them? Then they wouldn't need the CR.
See my response to kyzr above. The shutdown doesnt keep congress from working, the majority leadership does. You do know that they arent connected, right?
The legislative branch is constitutionally required to continue its duties, with members continuing to receive pay. That isnt a "quirk". That is a design. They are required to work and only avoiding it for some political reason. Id suggest it is to not seat the Dem congresswoman and get the votes for the Epstein Files - but it could be any reason.See my response to kyzr above.
The Constitution does not require the House of Representatives to stay continually in session, hoping for a handful of Senate democrats who are holding up funding the nation to change their minds. The legislative branch is constitutionally required to continue its duties, with members continuing to receive pay. That isnt a "quirk". That is a design. They are required to work and only avoiding it for some political reason. Yes it would be right. Those lazy coxockers should be working 7-days a week 12-hours a day until all the appropriations bills are passed. You do know that all workers and utilities would be paid after the shutdown, or after the appropriations bills are passed.Oh. Now, I see what the question was, thanks! And the answer: because the government is shut down.
If Senators and Congress folk were working diligently to pass those other nine appropriations bills, that would require laying on extra security who are not being paid and using a bunch of extra electricity, which there is no money to pay for.
Do you think it would be right for congress to have a shutdown and then "work around" the shutdown by pretending it's not happening?
What "little people"? There are many people, including the military, ICE, FBI, air traffic controllers, etc., still on the job working, but the DC assholes are not working, but they are still getting paid. It's bad enough that a quirk in our constitution has the exact lawmakers who shut us down still being paid. Having the "little people" come in and work without pay under those conditions would be assholery worthy of Marie Antoinette.
They don't have to agree on the 12 appropriations bills, but they need to work on them to negotiate to see how far off they are. I'm not sure if appropriations bills are 51 or 60 votes to pass. If deadlocked again, Thune needs to go nuclear.Besides, if they can't agree on this simple clean CR to fund the government at the same level for seven more weeks what makes you think they will agree on twelve appropriations packages?
That sounds pretty time consuming. Leave the government shutdown all the while that goes on?They don't have to agree on the 12 appropriations bills, but they need to work on them to negotiate to see how far off they are. I'm not sure if appropriations bills are 51 or 60 votes to pass.
A reasonable thought, but I disagree. The shutdown is idiotic, purely New York Democrat inside baseball using the American people as pawns. Those particular Democrats did this and nearly all Democrat Senators are aiding and abbeting them in it. If they don't like the shutdown they caused, let them end it.If deadlocked again, Thune needs to go nuclear.
With the government officially shut down, let’s be clear about one thing:
If it is time consuming why are they wasting 3-weeks? The "shutdown" is not an excuse. They need to pass appropriations bills, one at a time. There are 3 that should be on Trump's desk for signature already. That sounds pretty time consuming. Leave the government shutdown all the while that goes on?
If the shutdown is idiotic, not working on appropriations bills, or approving Trump's nominees, or other needed bills is also idiotic.A reasonable thought, but I disagree. The shutdown is idiotic, purely New York Democrat inside baseball using the American people as pawns. Those particular Democrats did this and nearly all Democrat Senators are aiding and abetting them in it. If they don't like the shutdown they caused, let them end it.
Congress is broken. There is no appetite outside the most liberal wing of the Democrat Party to give free healthcare to people who crossed the border illegally and were given "a legal status" en masse, nor to provide free healthcare to able-bodied Americans or non-Americans who decline to work or even do minimal hours of community service, and certainly none to provide the Corporation for Public Broadcasting with half a trillion tax-payer dollars. I'm amazed that the Democrats did not think to include among those absurd demands some little funding project that would benefit all Americans. A middle-class tax cut, or something. Anything besides just throwing money at pet liberal causes.
Fifteen days without government funding? The American people must be suffering mightily.
or . . .
If the American people are not actually suffering at all under this limited number of government workers reporting to work, and limited expenditures, isn't it time for some serious and permanent cuts?
