With the government officially shut down, let’s be clear about one thing:

Trump knew he didnt have the votes to gut healthcare for Americans but did it anyway. He can figure out the road from here. Democrats don’t have to do anything.
Well, except for doing their jobs. They do have to do that.

1. Trump didn't gut the ACA subsidies, the democrats wrote the Covid subsidy to expire this month, automatically.
2. True, democrats don't have to do anything, Republicans will never give in to extortion of $15T. Thune will e forced to go nuclear for the CR, Appropriations, and Rescissions.
3. Democrats can negotiate a reduced subsidy, or just take what Republicans give if anything. Remember, the Obamacare premiums are just going back to normal after the Covid subsidy expires.

"extortion" being "you need votes to pass your bill, we won't give votes right now because we don't like what you're doing" "Yeah, well, we don't care, we're not going to compromise, we don't need your votes" "yeah, you do" "Well, we'll pretend it's your fault, and not ours for not compromising"

It's the Republicans' fault, 100%

They need votes, they need to compromise to get those votes. They won't.

Make no mistake about it ......

With the government officially shut down, let’s be clear about one thing:

Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. This is THEIR shutdown.

They have every tool to govern. Instead, they chose chaos. And now the American people are the ones paying the price.

Thousands of workers are going without pay. Families are seeing their benefits delayed. Small businesses cannot access the loans they depend on.

Republicans not showing up for work don't get paid damn it .............
What shutdown are you talking about? The only government shutdown going on now is the Schumer Shutdown.

1. Who stopped the vote that started the shutdown?
2. Who is continuing to prevent votes that would end the shutdown?

That's who is responsible.

I see no compromise from the minority's camp. They're in the minority, they should be compromising. Didn't Obama tell us all that elections have consequences, and the minority party could come along for the ride, but they had to ride in the back of the bus?

Now we're jettisoning Obama?

No one. The votes for cloture have not been stopped.

No one. The votes for cloture can continue.

Let's see. Since January the GOP has been (and I paraphase):
  • "Sit down, shut up"
  • "There is a new Sherriff in town"
  • "Elections have consequences, we won"
  • "We don't need DEM votes as we are in charge"
  • "We won, you lost, suck it up buttercup"

100% on the republicans.

Well, this is a problem with the US system, isn't it? Only two choices.

Don't like this system, then change to proportional representation. It's better. It'd allow for either compromise or new elections.

Republicans offered to open the government back up with a clean CR. Schumer chose to keep it closed.

This is the Schumer Shutdown.

Yes, that would be nice but it's not happening any time soon. Until then, we have to play the cards we're dealt, and right now, that means Schumer can keep the government shut down.

This is the Schumer Shutdown.

The GOP can open the government with a simple majority any time they want.

So, why is it that the only way you feel you can talk about your priorities, is to hold America hostage?
Talking about issues is easy, getting the other side to listen is not. You do what you have to do to get their attention. The GOP has not governed in a bipartisan manner up to now. The Dems were completely shut out of the BBB formation process and still the WH will not negotiate.

That's like saying the US and Russia could eliminate war by incinerating the planet. Schumer started the Schumer Shutdown and he can end it. He is choosing to keep the government closed, with all the pain that comes with it.

Democrats shut down the government for 2 reasons. They want to spend trillions on illegals and Schumer is worried about losing the speakership. Democrats have the power to open the government and they are trying to blackmail America.
Opening the government allows negotiation. Democrats dont negotiate they threaten

I don’t believe that. The problem is that dems aren’t able to get their way, and are taking it out on the public…

Democrats' stance: Democrats, led by Schumer, want to repeal the OBBBA, which would eliminate both the Medicaid cuts and the accompanying $50 billion fund for rural hospitals.

Yes, Trump has to deal with the cards he's got. He can either keep the govt shut down, or he can try and compromise. He doesn't have the votes. He needs to get the votes.

He wants to put through his thing, but it's not going to happen. He's trying to get people to see it as someone else's fault (when has anything bad happened under Trump and Trump hasn't blamed someone else for it?)

He doesn't even want to try.

Trump is keeping the govt shut down. He's the president.

#1 The DEMs aren't trying to repeal OBBB, they are attempting to amend it. Two different things.

#2 By attempting to amend the Medicaid cuts, that doesn't cut the $50 Billion since it's an amendment not a repeal. Also the GOP $50 Billion is to replace Medicaid cuts, if the cuts don't happen, then rural hospitals would have the Medicare income that the $50 Billion is intended to replace.

So just as a I figured.

Context matters over bumper sticker.
