Wisconsin Giving Tax Surplus to the People!

Economy Killer Scott Walker Takes Wisconsin to 49th in the Country

The bad news keeps coming for Governor Scott Walker (R-WI), who ran as a conservative who was going to save the state and create 250,000 jobs. Instead, he’s thrown the state into what’s looking now like a long term economic contraction.

In the latest numbers from the Philadelphia Fed, which is a monthly state-by-state index of leading economic growth indicators, Wisconsin ranks 49th in the nation.

Out of the 50 states, only five are in contraction. Alaska, Louisiana, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming are all projected to decrease growth, with Wisconsin second to last with an index of -.74%. These numbers shouldn’t be a huge shock, as Republican governors are associated with lower rates of growth, while state spending has a positive impact on growth.

Oh, well...a "prediction" from a Progressive. Well that's impressive...:doubt:

So you've got NOTHING to back up your statement "How much more will Wisconsin's schools suck". Nothing, just more lies. How fucking pathetic.

Well, I did, but you are too stupid to understand it.

Here's another one..

Case Closed: Scott Walker's Budget Destroying Public Education

MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following the release of a definitive report by the Department of Public Instruction that shows massive cuts by Scott Walker are destroying public education.

"Scott Walker's rhetoric met reality today, with a report that is as sad as it is shocking for the future of our public schools. Contrary to months of propaganda supported by corporate front groups, Wisconsin's schools are suffering at the direct hands of Walker's immoral budget. When seven of 10 students attend a district with fewer teachers and nine out of 10 students saw a cut in staff, when 40 percent of our schools have larger class sizes and when more than 60 percent of our school districts say they see more drastic cuts coming, Scott Walker should be ashamed to claim that his assault on public education is working.

According to the data, even one of the anecdotes that Scott Walker trots out most regularly, the Kaukauna School District, is a sham, with that school at the top of the list in losing teachers and increasing student-to-teacher ratio.

The propaganda machine for Scott Walker is well-funded - as we see with his shameless fundraising trip to Arizona, Kansas and California in the next week that begins today. The corporate front groups that have infested our state have tried mightily to fool, confuse and lie to the Wisconsin public. Today's report is a damning rebuke to any of those who yet believed Walker's hollow empty rhetoric that cutting education in Wisconsin by $2.6 billion, to fund tax cuts for the very rich, would help our schools.

Still looking for evidence that Wisconsin's education system HAS ACTUALLY declined. You know, "how much more" it sucked under Walker.

Something, anything!

You can post all the dire PREDICTIONS of doom and gloom you like. None of that backs up your statement or changes the fact that, once again, you've been called out for the LYING SACK OF SHIT YOU ARE.

Good luck with that.

I take it back. Walker probably isn't an alternative to Christie if anyone looks at his record.

Right, who would want a successful governor to run for president? who would want a guy who had the guts to stand up to big labor even when it put his job at risk? who would want a guy that balanced the state budget and turned a deficit into a surplus?

Right, we should never put a successful person in the whitehouse. But that does explain obama being elected twice.

Wow Joe. That's ignorant even for you.

Except they really aren't doing that....

You really need to correct a lot of your ignorance. Chicago is thriving while Milwaukee is dying.

Which is what happens when you don't diversify your industry.

Unfunded pension obligations to state employees have reached $100 billion. Unpaid bills to various state vendors are estimated at $6 billion. The city of Chicago faces a $1 billion budget deficit in fiscal 2015. Credit ratings for the state and city have been slashed.

Not so much pop......

Walker is clearly the disaster rdean and the left are depicted. Shhh don't tell Chris

Naturally, if you listen to Scott Walker and the GOP, he is doing a fabulous job. Then you go start looking at individual facts and an entirely different story emerges.

Epps-Addison also pointed out that the unemployment figures fail to reflect the thousands of Wisconsinites who went from decent-paying jobs to service-sector jobs that pay so poorly that some cannot survive without taxpayer-supported public assistance. Ironically, while Republicans in Wisconsin and elsewhere condemn social welfare programs for “fostering dependency,” they award large tax breaks to corporations that don’t pay workers enough to keep them off food stamps and other public assistance programs.

Walker enters into his re-election campaign after submitting a biennial budget last year with a projected shortfall of $505 million, according to the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau.

An especially disastrous decision Walker made was cutting funding to technical colleges by 30 percent. Wisconsin already lagged behind the nation in terms of having workers versed in the latest production technology, Norman said. Walker’s cuts made the state even less attractive to manufacturers and knowledge-based industries, according to him and others.

“It’s absolutely stupid to defund something that’s helping manufacturing,” Norman said. “You should use your tax dollars to supporting training people with a specific job in mind.

“Under Walker, Wisconsin ranks 48th in new businesses created,” Burke said. “At a time when entrepreneurs and small businesses need access to capital, WEDC failed to get $35 million designated for business loans out the door.

Major missteps cost the state jobs

Remember, the US was coming out of a recession. You could do nothing and it would be better than Republicans left it after the Bush Administration.

Just saying "They have a billion dollar surplus" isn't enough. You can cut education by a billion (he actually cut it by 2.6 billion) and then crow you have a billion dollar surplus. It's all the other stuff that matters.

Guy, I've already mopped the floor with you, but here's some more.

Twelve Times Scott Walker Was Terrible - EMILY's List

Geez, this guy might not even get a second term.

And what is it with Republicans pushing these "minimum wage jobs"? Prosperity through lower wages? Are minimum wage jobs all they can see? What's going on with that?

Walker is making the same mistake Bush made in 2001,

cutting taxes instead of paying down long term debt.

Uhh, and obama has paid down our long term debt ???????????????

10 trillion when he took office, 17 trillion today, 21 trillion when he leaves. Wow, what a great record :cuckoo:

Most of that is Bush's fault. That is my point. Thanks for reinforcing it.

Walker nearly got run out of office in a recall... and he's mired in scandals.

He's Christiy without the charisma or the BMI...

No thats not what to look for. We want to look for a rising star with rock star charisma and a well modulated voice promising free cheese to inner city Negroes and touting proposals for universal sharing.
Oh wait, that's the Democrats.

Poor Carb, is that the best you've got?

My district has repeatedly proposed referendums that allow for an increase in property taxes so that schools can make necessary repairs, keep class size low, maintain quality extracurriculars and the arts, etc. Under Walker, districts would not be allowed to do that. Again, so much for local control.

I know it seems like it doesn't make much sense. But Walker is probably doing the better thing by steering away from that path. The more local tax dollars are used for school funding, the more people start clamoring "Well your district should do the same thing / the state should spend less and the district spend more" etc. Next thing you know, spending becomes incredibly uneven. Rich neighborhoods give Ipads to every student. Poor neighborhoods employ convicted child molesters because they can't manage to pay market wages.
