Zuckerburg is launching Threads to challenge twitter and the question is that its launch will sink the ailing social media platform.

The obvious answer is that it depends on the quality of the service that is offered. The mess that is twitter seems to lurch from crisis to crisis. Th content now seems to veer between pix of cats and posts by alleged criminals like Tait.

Its not a compelling offer.

But launching a new platform is not easy. Trump floundered when he tried it.

Too bad you can't impeach Musk like you did Trump and you want to do to SCOTUS.

:auiqs.jpg:

But the next best thing is to financially destroy him in any way possible so that conservatives no longer have a voice anywhere, you little brown shirt you.

So Musk should not be subject to the free market ? Is that the point you are making ?

LOL. Musk is doing a great job of financially destroying himself with no help from anyone else. That's what happens when your business can't write the checks your ego wants to cash. Twitter isn't SpaceX or Tesla. Face it. He bought Twitter for his own little bully platform, sucked up to weak minded "conservatives", and now it's coming back to bite him in the ass. And yes, if Twitter goes down, I'll smile.
And that's beside the point that we have almost 40 years of a track record for "conservatism" to know it's a dead and failed ideology and belief system.

I think I would piss myself laughing if twatter went under.

Yeah, but Trump is a loser. Practically everything he started was a failure.

Zuckerberg does have a chance of making Threads a success. He has Facebook and Instagram crowd that he can tap into.

Musk seemed concerned more with freedom of speech issues than trying to make money from it.

But Leftists like yourself know that anywhere there is freedom of speech, despotic Leftism cannot flourish.

As for conservatism being dead, I'm sure they said Christianity was dead when they nailed Christ to a cross as his followers abandoned him as well.

But unlike yourself, I don't believe that having the majority believe as you do makes you right, nor does it make you right based on worldly riches.

But that is the Left, their whole goal is manipulating everyone to think as they do, and taking everyone's money in the process.

It gives them warm fuzzies and a sense of superiority over pretty much everything and everyone.

LOL. You conservatives have a lot more to lose with Musk winning than Libs.

He basically killed the gasoline auto industry. Thereby proving Al Gore correct.

And you idiots think we hate Musk? Nope. We are delighted that he is able to succeed in killing the old fossil industry.

Twitter? Meh. Just another microblogging site. If it disappears tomorrow, we would miss it but no biggie.

I like Twitter. Easier to use than some other microblogging sites. I am mainly on it to follow tech people. If they move on to another platform, I may move on but for now, it is easier to stay.

Just like FB, you only follow those you want and this way eliminates most of the junk that floats there.

I believe Musk says these outrageous things and panders to right-wing nut jobs just to hide the fact from his conservative audiences that he is basically destroying their fossil industries.

He's a corporatist. He brays about freedom of speech because he knows that ropes the suckers (conservatives) in. His main goal is making money..which so far with Twitter, he's failing miserably at.

And your argument about "manipulation" is laughable. Conservatives have been trying to force their beliefs on the masses since the early 80's. :)
Problem is...they have no success stories to speak of.

The only way to destroy fossil fuels is for the government to regulate it away.

No one fears his electric cars, I can assure you. Only government mandating we all buy them will destroy it, which is why states like California are doing just that.

Competition always destroys Leftism, whether it be in a debate or in the financial arena, which is why they hate free speech and a free market.

Social media is changing, so replicating an existing idea will probably not catch on. It's kinda a declining market, but who knows. I don't do Twitter and I won't be bothering with Threads. Forums are bad enough.

"Broke Twitter"??
Uh... let's see... when he took over... they were on the brink of bankruptcy, bleeding money by the hour and had 100s of employees whose only apparent job was to censor members.

Musk lowered Twitter's losses by 80%.
Fired the censurers, fired a stream of employees engaging in systemic, biased user blocking and data manipulation.
Twitter is on it's way to profitability after approaching nearly $14 Billion in debt.

The government does not have to regulate it. Once people find that EVs can do everything internal-combustion cars can do and they are cheaper, they will switch.

Before Musk, EVs were derided as glorified golf carts. Hard to convince many to switch. People laughed at Al Gore when he described the internal combustion engine as an outdated technology.

Who's laughing now? And who made it possible to trash gasoline-powered vehicles? Musk!

Musk made it sexier and faster. He overnight threw a wrench into the entire auto industry. What's there not to like? Do you still think we libs hate Musk?

Twitter may succeed or not but in the long run, it won't matter. Tesla on the other hand has already changed the industry significantly.

Musk has no interest in free speech. He abandons it everywhere that Autocrats complain.

I seriously doubt it.
Threads is a pipe dream.
It's something to pump up stock prices so Zuckerberg and a few other knowledgeable investors can pull out at a decent price.

Facebook is dead....it's been dead for a while now. Too restrictive, too expensive, and revenue can get cut off without rhyme or reason. Youtube is getting to be that way with all its restrictions.

Threads is just a knockoff Twitter with all the restrictions, ads, and risks of Facebook. Of course it's run by the same people as Facebook or Instagram. And Instagram associations are eventually going to be problematic as it's having unrestrained promotion of child pornography....not just acquiescence....ACTIVE PROMOTION. Which is intolerable everywhere in the world.

Is Threads going to promote CP?

I don't know and don't want to find out the hard way.

One other thing....
Twitter has improved in a lot of ways. There are podcasts available to listen to of truly knowledgeable people on a subject that are either live or recorded having good discussions on various points of interest.

Like when Prigozhin was invading Russia....you could hear all about his progress live and accurately. Meanwhile MSM was busy talking sports, submarines, and beauty parents.
Anyone that could have done anything similar on Facebook or Instagram had been banned long ago.

Threads will have to improve on the tsitter experience to make progress.
The BBC and C4 covered the mutiny in great depth. It must be an American thing not to do so.
