Speith has a very tight and strong circle of friends and family that have a strong influence on him. Though useful for a younger and popular sports figure that insulate him or her from the ravages of sometimes not so well meaning influences outside of his protectorate the maturing process demands releasing one's self from the "nest" and making one's own decisions and alliances. Jordan may be struggling with a war of sorts between his former and current influences. It may be difficult to just find his own space to regenerate the confidence in himself that the best golfers must get re-acquainted with when he or she is experiencing a slump.

Don't read too much into one [fucking] hole at Augusta. Jordan Speith is, at this moment, one of the three or four best golfers in the world. Given the nature of golf, this renders his chances of winning the Players' about one in ten. If he finishes top five, he is definitely "back."
