Knowing the planet won't be habitable forever, and being animals, our goal/mission in life is to breed. Procreate. Pass on our genes to a future generation. Every animal. It's in our DNA. So knowing this planet won't last forever, we MUST get off this planet. If not, we will die. Now you personally might not care about that. Perhaps you are religious and you believe in the End of Days and Armageddon. Prophecies. People like that don't tend to be the scientific types nor do they care about human's getting off this rock because they believe god made this rock for us and he wants us to stay till Jesus returns, which is soon according to them. There was a time that religion HATED science. Not because science proved God wasn't real. Science can't do that. Science proved a lot of religious beliefs wrong. For centuries religion's answer was "god did it". But then science proved that it happened naturally. Religion did not like that.

Couple examples are Adam and Eve and Evolution. Religious people who believe we are all related believe if you go back far enough, eventually you go back to the first man and the first woman.
