Any slowdowns under Republicans are because they took over after a Democrat presidency. What Republicans do is get us out of slowdowns and recessions.

No, not really. This one, Republicans had been in charge for 3 years. 2008, they had been in charge for 7 years. 1990, they had been in charge for 10 years. The ONLY recession you can claim happened right after the Republicans took over is 2001. And it's always kind of been this way. My parents used to say Republicans brought us Recessions, Democrats brought us wars. Today, Republicans bring us recessions AND wars.

Reagan inherited a troubled economy, he got us out of it and put us in a very successful one.

The thing everyone forgets about the 1980 and 1981 recessions is that they were INTENTIONALLY triggered by the Fed to control double digit inflation. The intent was to control inflation by driving wages down.

Bush inherited a slow economy, and it was topped off after 911. He got us out of it.

Actually, the economy was doing fine until Bush started fucking with it. Then he gave us slow growth until he totally fucked it up in 2008.

The economy wasn't bad for Trump, but very sluggish and wages not increasing by much. He turned that around. What stopped him was a worldwide pandemic. Otherwise we would have enjoyed a great economy until his reelection in November.

We were going into recession even without Covid. Industrial output and demand were already slowing, corporate debt was maxed out. In short, he did what Republicans always do, let the One Percent indulge their worst behaviors and let nature take it's course. Covid just kicked in the whole rotten edifice.

Nobody is in the entire world. That's how voters will answer. However before the Wuhan virus, people were way better off under Trump than Hussein.

Most of the world is handling Covid-19 better than we are. For instance, unemployment in the EU is only 7.8% right now

Trump did try that at the beginning, but quickly learned that you can't do that when you're not part of the club. He didn't start from the bottom. He didn't work his way up. He just barged in the front door and took the highest seat in the land, passing each and every one of them like they weren't even there. That's a no-no.

It reminds me of a Mayor we had in my suburb about ten years ago. He was the best Mayor I could remember. He instituted a policy that was talked about all across the country. It wasn't a genius thought, it was simply holding parents responsible for the actions of their children. He did radio interviews here and in other states. He was on national television one time. People thought this was the most controversial policy ever created in modern times.

However the Council hated him. He was against the bad policies they came up with. You can't do that here. These are Democrats. What they do, you just shut up and follow. Finally they pressured him out. He didn't run for reelection which he would have easily won.

What's sad is that the party even allowed him to run in the first place. He's been showing signs of deterioration for some time now. I really don't think it was Joe's desire to run for office. I don't know if it was his wife, or even perhaps the party itself, but whoever talked him into this is going to regret it, even more so if he actually wins.

We all have our time to leave unfortunately. You may not like it, want it, or will be lost without it. But it's something most of us have to face in our lives, and accept it even if reluctantly.

Our founders never meant the position to be for professional politicians only. The requirements are written in our Constitution so that people like Trump (non-professional) could take the job. On the right, we got so sick of how professional Republican politicians failed us repeatedly. Sure, they talk a good game when running, but once they get in, they become an excuse machine.

As for myself, yes, I did give up. You can't fight city hall forever. I worked as long as government allowed me to. They ended my career--I didn't.
