A CATHOLIC secondary school pupil was suspended after being caught selling £5 pornographic DVDs in the playground.

Police were called to St John Lloyd Comprehensive School in Llanelli after receiving complaints from some parents.

Headteacher Paul White was yesterday in talks with school governors after a number of parents called for the culprit to be expelled.

A Dyfed Powys Police spokeswoman confirmed officers visited the school after receiving reports from parents.

She said that after inquiries they were satisfied the incident did not stem from any external influence.

In a brief statement, Mr White said: "An inappropriate DVD was brought to school by a year seven (aged 11) pupil.

"The DVD was confiscated by a member of staff and was handed over to the police.

"The parents were informed and the pupil has been given a fixed term exclusion in accordance with policy."

One parent, who did not wish to be named, said she caught her son viewing explicit sex scenes on DVD.

You're point? One kid brought to school. Another caught by mom watching, obviously in their home. This has what to do with Catholic school? One of my own kids went to public school, if he brought or distributed pornography, he would have been expelled. Says so in the printed handbook, same as the school I teach in. (Catholic).

For one thing I was in NYC during 9/11 and I worked at ground zero. I donate to an organization of survivors of priest sexual abuse. Haven't done much about robbery I must admit.

So you think picking up a little bit of debris, and dumping some pocket change in to a charity absolves you of all guilt? I asked what you did to STOP those things - neither of the above are preventative measures.

By your own words, anybody that doesn't do anything to specifically stop something immediately is guilty of the same crime. That's a poor attitude to take, and you should rethink it.

Seems like the problem is so pervasive that it's unlikely that anyone doesn't know what's going on. But if there are some parishes where it's not happening, more power to them!
