Million reasons. Drunk driving, an accident, finding a guy ******* your wife, battered wife, end someone’s suffering, being on meth and murdering the people you broke into their home, shaking your baby to death.

Take the shaken baby syndrome. They didn’t mean to murder the baby I’m sure. So life in prison.

Shaken Baby Syndrome has since largely been debunked as "junk science" and no one has ever been executed for shaking a baby to death. Additionally, the lead detective in the case now says he got it wrong.

Even if Roberson did shake his baby to death, the death penalty is normally reserved for premeditated murder. Namely he planned to kill his child.
At worst, he lost his temper and shook the baby to death.

Not justifying putting him to death

If someone kills a pregnant woman it is considered a double homicide whether it is premeditated or not. Is a born child any less?

We need to end the death penalty because it is stupid.

• There is no consistency in how it's meted out,
• It is often the sentence for morons and crazies who are, while legally competent, not practically competent,
• In most jurisdictions, it requires appeal after appeal, wasting untold resources on people who are simply not worth it,
• The appeals over many years forces the survivors of the victims to re-live their personal tragedy over and over,
• Revenge is not a legitimate goal of the criminal justice system,
• It is used so seldom that any hope that it might be a general deterrent is lost,
• It would be cheaper simply to house such prisoners in a single place, an island facility that is impregnable, and have the states pay a fee to have their "death row" inmates housed there. Guantanamo Bay comes to mind.

Even the prosecutors admit they fucked up and he;s innocent, but they are gonna murder this autistic guy just because they can.


The judge who denied the stay and governor who denied clemency need to be next on death row for murder.

Don't know much about this case. The guy might be a monster who intended to kill the baby. Doesn't matter. We have killed innocent people in the past, and it's clear that we will again in the future. Lock them up forever if you think it is justified, but we don't need to kill more innocent people.
