Iran has a bunch of reasonably advanced anti-ship missiles that could severely damage one of our very expensive warships.

US bombers have struck sites believed to have these missiles but we don’t have total confidence that we’ve gotten them all.

So our warships are hanging out far enough away to stay safe.
