Why the the left should NEVER try exploiting the Bible

"I'll take the gay hating , but not the help the poor part. Thank you Jesus !"
Again, liar, show me in the Bible where Jesus (or God) said that the poor should be helped by government through the barrel of a gun. If you can show me that - I give you my word that I will vote Dumbocrat across the board for the rest of my life.

You just idiotically doubled down on the premise of this thread - which was that you people attempt to exploit the Bible without having the faintest clue what it says. Way to prove the premise correct.

Jesus didn't live in a democracy. If he did, having actually read his words, he would not support cutting services to the poor...especially not to give to the military.
Jesus would never support government coerced "services" for the poor in the first place. He made that very clear in the Bible.

Yet the Right quotes the bible endlessly while it contradicts pretty much all of their platform positions.
It actually supports it, snowflake - as proven by the initial post above. Thanks for playing...you are dismissed!

So we have the common sense to take responsibility for our own security - and you actually believe that is an "insult"? Bwahahahahaha! Snowflake...when you lose an election you actually curl up on the floor in the fetal position and have to call off of work for three days. Then you need someone to provide you with "therapy", coloring books, and fuck'n play-doh like you're a toddler. That is a snowflake. Someone carry a gun is called an ADULT.

Yeah right, I can't count the times some homo has tried to tell me it's a sin to eat shellfish...dopes, that was Mosaic Law, part of the old Covenant and done away with by the New Covenant....furthermore it was never a sin for Gentiles

Ah yes, What would Jesus do?

Refer to them as "homos".

You're a terrible human being. Truly.

Also, Jesus came to confirm the law.

Matthew , Chapter 5
Sodom and Gomorrah dealt with that sort of thing, love the sinner hate the sin…

The left is all over the news, social media, and even right here on USMB these days attempting to exploit the Bible for their own political gain. Whenever they are incapable of defending their irrational position, aside from screaming racist/homophobe/xenophobe/etc., they will invariably scream "the Bible says to redistribute wealth". The problem, of course, is that the Bible says no such thing. And they would know that if they didn't hate the Bible and religion. It's a bad idea to attempt to quote something one has never read.
Josh Protas, the vice president of public policy at MAZON, a Jewish anti-hunger group...quoted a verse in Leviticus. Not to be outdone, Rep. Jodey Arrington quoted a Bible verse of his own, saying, “If a man will not work he shall not eat.”

“I did hear Mr. Protas, your opening remarks, where you quoted Leviticus, I believe — and I think that’s a great reflection on the character of God and the compassion of God’s heart and how we ought to reflect that compassion in our lives,” Arrington said. “But there’s also, you know, the Scripture, tells us in 2 Thessalonians chapter 3:10, he says, ‘for even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: if a man will not work, he shall not eat.’ And then he goes on to say ‘we hear that some among you are idle.’

Boom! Talk about a knockout blow. This is what happens to a person who doesn't know the Bible and yet attempts to exploit it for the evils of socialism/marxism/communism.

I don't think the words in Thessalonians 3:10 mean what you think they mean

before anyone wants to use this verse out of context, and from Paul might want to read the above.
That is a good one. Hypocrites like the one in the article shouldn't open their mouths.

"The ring leader seems to be one Stephen Fincher from Tennessee (R-Hypocrite) who somewhat reinvigorated this particular practice back in May, a man who incidentally received more than $70,000 in farm subsidies in 2012 alone and has racked up over $3 million in taxpayer loot in the last decade. He's not alone on that score either, there are a dozen more fundie House hypocrites on the dole just like him."

I doubt he leaves anything for the poor to glean from those government subsidized fields either. Someone should inquire about that.
Lev 23:22
And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
Lev 19:10
And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.

It seems prudent not to quote anything you haven't read.

No one accused them lf being prudent

I was raised Christian. I've read every word of the bible, including the description of raping the girls in Jericho and dashing out the brains of babies. THAT portion certainly jives with the values of Republicans and the warmongers in the Freedom Caucus.
Only a fool thinks reading the Bible is the same as understanding the Bible, It's a holy spirit thing obviously you don't understand…

Yeah? Where did Jesus make that "very clear"?

I prefer stuffing the homos with Romans 1: 6-27

Did you miss the part where I explained Leviticus? I don't see how, you quoted it....homosexuality is condemned in both the Old and New Testaments

This where you all don't get it, you don't understand the Covenants and Testaments, how Christ fulfilled the prophecy and through His death came the New Covenant which replaced the Old Covenant

Jeremiah 31:33, NIV. "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the Lord. "I will put My law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people."

Luke 22:20, NIV. "In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.

Hebrews 7:22, NIV. "Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant."

Christianity is not a religion, it's a faith...
all religions are man-made

Wut?

Christianity is not a religion?

How do you think anyone knows anything about christ? A game of telephone

The bible written by man and each denomination has their own with what interpretation means to them. A book that has been change by a word here or there every time it was re written for a particular religion. A book of fairy tails. Yep, you're in never never land just like the stories.
