Technically he sent $5,500,000 on an court supervised escrow account to be able to appeal. Now he may get that money refunded if he wins the appeal, or it may all disappear if he loses.

We are waiting for Judge Kaplans order for the $83,000,000 award. He will have to establish a similar $83,000,000 (plus %) escrow or bond to be able to appeal that ruling. Without the escrow/bond, enforcement can begin immediately (say 30-90 days) after the order is entred.
