Is there DNA evidence to support these contentions? I've heard theories that some South Americans may have DNA markers similar to the Japanese and Polynesians. And I'm not sure it matters anyway, there are a number of theories about why the Olmecs and other people in Central America vanished but I have not heard that race was among them.

I am a lover of history: it's important to me that history be accurate, it's hard enough to understand the past when you have the truth to work with, but this historical pollution just makes it that much harder. I live my life by several principles one of which is the truth. I do not lie, and I do not respect or like people that do. However, some people will sell you a book that tells you what you want to hear in order to make a buck. But it does not matter what the race the Olmecs were, and by the way they were not black, it adds nothing to my life nor takes anything away from it and the same is true for you. If you need to believe the Olmecs were black in order to feel better about yourself, you need to work on your Self-esteem. That is not a criticism just a suggestion.
