Why root for the failure of any candidate when it comes to the economy in particular? The well being of the nation shouldn't be a partisan issue.

Both parties run up unconscionable debt. Both parties engage in stupid useless wars. Both parties routinely lie to us.
Both parties are filled with individuals prioritizing their own gain over the needs of the nation.

Sometimes it seems like people wish for economic failure if it will make candidates they don't like look bad. This seems self defeating to me.

I’ve never understood this mindset.

Even when a politician I don’t like is in office, I still hope they succeed where it matters. If they can improve the economy, lower crime, strengthen infrastructure, whatever it is, that's a win for all of us. Why would I root for failure just to be right?

I get not supporting someone. I get opposing policies. But when people are openly gleeful about inflation, job losses, or social unrest just because it might make their least favorite party look bad, what does that really say about their priorities?

It’s like some folks would rather be right about how bad things are than see their country thrive. That’s not patriotism or critical thinking. That’s just spite.

I think that kind of mindset is short sighted and toxic.

The Asshole In Charge is destroying our economy, let's start there.
