Why Older Men Would Rather Die Alone

Did you watch 1923? Your story reminds me of the main character. He had no interest in finding a woman. He was traveling the world doing all kinds of exciting/dangerous things. She was about to marry some rich dork when she saw him and she CLUNG to him until eventually he fell in love with her. He didn't want the baggage at first but eventually couldn't do without her. Would travel to the ends of the world to be with her. You meet the right woman she'll change your mind.

Not a lot of good women in their 50's. Put it this way. They ain't her. And she made herself useful to him. Do women today? I think women today think the only thing they need to offer is a vagina.
Well, that's kind of an extreme version of it I think. I never did truly crazy stuff. I did a lot of spelunking and exploring abandoned places, often using old topo maps. I did a lot of it alone. I took some risks that could have resulted in bad things but nothing very extreme. And nothing really bad ever happened. In a very general sense, YES, that is kind of how I am but in a more subtle way.

My wife and I are very similar in that way, really. She told me that back in high school the other girls told her "Wow! You're not looking for a boyfriend, you're looking for a husband!" And that attitude was true for me in regards to early courtship too. I think some girls ran away because I was too serious for them. I'm QUITE sure actually! 😄

It's funny because when I was a young man, it seemed like all the girls wanted a serious relationship with me. I always had to do the dumping.

But then I watched Hot Tub Time Machine. Instead of breaking up with the girl like he did in high school and then she stabbed him with a fork, he professed his love to her. Older him regretted breaking up with her. He was like "what was I thinking?".

So he did it. He professed his love for her and do you know what she did? She dumped him. LOL.

Many women are like cats. If theyre in they want out. If they're out they want in. Interestingly, more than half the women I've been with were Leos! That sign especially falls for the cool, aloof "inaccessable" man. They rebuff men who become obviously enamored and pursue and shower them with attention, or use them at best, keep them around as "friends". It's difficult to find the balance, and maintaining a relationship with such a woman IS about balancing that dynamic. A major key to that is not becoming obsessed with that balance, but in being somewhat Buddha-like about it.

After 50 years of marriage, my gramps was remarried within 6 months of my grandmother's death. It was strange to me. If something happens to my current marriage, I really don't expect to go out and seek someone new. If it happens it happens. Otherwise I will just live my life and eventually be a doting gramps I guess....or become a second-hand lion. Its all good. Do whatever works for you.

As for the dying stuff, I am an irritable cuss when I I am unwell. I probably won't want anyone there whether my wife is still around or not.
