Cheryl Feldman Halpern is the chair of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). She was appointed in 2005. An active Republican, she was chair of the Republican Jewish Coalition for eight years.
Mrs. Halpern has been nominated to the boards of national or international public broadcasting organizations by Presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
Gay Hart Gaines was named to the CPB board as a recess appointment by President Bush in December 2003, and confirmed by the Senate in November 2004 to a term ending in 2010.
She is currently a member of the American Enterprise Institute, the Heritage Foundation, and the Madison Council of the Library of Congress.
Warren Bell, first nominated June 20, 2006, by President George W. Bush. His confirmation was blocked, and on December 20, 2006, Bush appointed Bell as a recess nominee.
Beth Courtney, nominated April 2003 by President George W. Bush, confirmed by the U.S. Senate November 2003.
Claudia Puig, nominated December 2003 by President George W. Bush, confirmed by U.S. Senate November 2004.
Chris Boskin, nominated June 2006 by President George W. Bush and confirmed September 2006 by the U.S. Senate.
The other two are registered Democrats.
