NOt really.
If that were the case, if being "Not the Current guy" was enough to get you over the finish line, then we'd be at the end of President Kerry's second term right now. Hate doesn't win elections.
It did in 2008.
And really, hate is all you leftists have.
Um. No. Actually. Obama won because McCain wasn't even liked by Most Republicans. Again, the only ones voting based on hate were the GOP last time. They were voting against, the Democrats were voting for. How often do you see anyone on this board who says he's a conservative have a kind word for John McCain? But he was acceptable to the establishment, and Huckabee wasn't. They couldn't sell Romney then, they can't sell him now.
I think I could support Santorum,
You're a communist, Santorum opposes everything you stand for.
Uh, no, guy. I'm someone who realizes that Capitalism ONLY survives if everyone benefits, which is not what's happening now. The only thing tha protects us from a European Style Socialism is a middle class earning a good paycheck and not wanting to pay it to folks who sit home and watch
Jerry Springer all day. The problem with the GOP is that it's good with clowns like Romney eliminating those good paying jobs and pushing more of them on that couch.
Romney is to the left of Santorum, you are irrational.
As I've said before, in a world where Ann Coulter praises Romney's Health Care Takeover, we can really stop having discussions about left or right. They've become meaningless. Santorum is for working folks, Romney is for the Rich. That's the real divide here, not one of "left" and "right". We almost had this discussion in 2008, when it was Huckabee vs. Romney, and Huckabee won that discussion then. Then the GOP Establishment punted and nominated McCain.
Look, you're a lefty troll thinking that Republicans are so stupid that if a couple of leftwingers like you and fakey jake spew Marxism, the conservatives will think "golly gee, that thar uthor Reeepubleecan dun thanx that gubmint cuntrol orver everything is gud policee, sew Iz jesa gunna promotes its too..."
Once again, the GOP really no longer can claim the "small government mantra" when they supported TARP. We all became socialists when the Government had to save the banks.
Now, Obama's got the easy job. All he has to do is get 94% of the people who voted for him last time to do so again.
That's not so easy, those who were fooled in 2008 won't be eager to be fooled again.
Really? I haven't seen anyone on this board who has said, "I voted for Obama in 2008, and what a mistake that was. I'm voting for whoever the GOP puts up!" Haven't met that person in real life, either. Human nature is not admit you made a mistake. On the other hand, I voted for McCain, I won't vote for Romney because I hate Mormons. (and a lot of other reasons.) I won't vote for Paul because he's crazy. I could vote for Santorum or Gingrich, but I know a lot of McCain supporters who won't go for them because they are too far to the right.
Santorum's religious nature puts me off a bit. But again, he gets that we need a middle class to survive as a society.
Yep, you're convinced that Obama's Reich will last a thousand years...
NO, I expect it to last 8 years. Because the GOP has not put up good candidates.
There were a lot of guys who would be taking the fight to Obama right now. Mitch Daniels, Jeb Bush. They picked not to run. They did the political calculus, figured that it would be too much trouble to wrest the nomination from Romney, and then get pilloried in the press for oppossing the first black president.
They figured that in 2016, the Dems have an empty bench (especially after a bunch of Democrats get cleaned out in the 2014 midterms.)
SOmething I thought I would never hear. "Boy, I wish Jeb Bush would run." A couple more years, I might be saying it.
